Happy sesquicentennial!
A while back I heard Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Erica Volkir mention to the Pipestone City Council that 2026 was the city of Pipestone’s 150th anniversary. For those who like complicated words, that’s the sesquicentennial. That certainly seemed like a noteworthy milestone, so I cracked open the old Pipestone County History book to do some research. There I found that the village of Pipestone was incorporated on Feb. 10, 1881.
