In which we witness the earnest assembly of Coketown’s oppressed operatives, stirred by impassioned rhetoric and the somber figure of Stephen Blackpool, whose steadfast sincerity amidst suspicion and estrangement paints a poignant portrait of solitary endurance. We then enter the grim parlour of Mr. Bounderby, where stark contrasts of class and conviction unfold in a tense dialogue that lays bare the complexities and misunderstandings betwixt men and masters in this grim industrial town.
