He grew up literally surrounded by Australian surfing. Harley talks about how riding for Bill Tolhurst  @tolhurstsurfboards was a massive influence on him. He says that he really gravitated toward the longboard crew and really liked traveling with his mates because it was like a big family unit. Harley feels that he did well in longboarding events because he didn't take them too seriously and when he was excited about surfing he would do good. He tells about how he really likes working and learning from Bill Tolhurst on designs and finishing boards. And did Harley really beat Beau Young in one of his very first heats as a rookie?
