Harvey Fierstein

ERK is joined by four-time Tony Award-winning actor and playwright Harvey Fierstein, whose notable works on stage and screen include HAIRSPRAY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, TORCH SONG TRILOGY, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, KINKY BOOTS, FUNNY GIRL, MRS. DOUBTFIRE, INDEPENDENCE DAY, and MULAN. The pair discuss his new memoir, I WAS BETTER LAST NIGHT, early memories of growing up gay and Jewish in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, what it means to be a radical faerie, his thoughts on gender, visiting popular gay sex spots, God, heaven, the onset of AIDS and how it affected our community (and the factions within the queer community that had to come together), and so much more. Plus, Tony Award-winner Marissa Jaret Winokur calls in to surprise Harvey — and start a beef. All that, plus we're chatting my favorite himbo, Shawn Mendes, and attempting to unpack his recent Notes App mental health check-in.
