Harwood Curator Nicole Dial-Kay on the museum's new exhibition "Luchita Hurtado: Earth & Sky Interjected"

from Voices of Taos · host The Taos News

Join us this week as producer Laura Martin Baseman talks with Harwood Museum of Art's curator of exhibitions and collections, Nicole Dial-Kay about the museum's upcoming exhibition: Luchita Hurtado: Earth & Sky Interjected. Luchita Hurtado began to visit Taos as early as the 1960s, but didn’t settle in the area until she and her family purchased land in Arroyo Seco in the 70s. Nicole explains how Luchita Hurtado made her work privately for much of her life and rarely exhibited it. Her third husband, Lee Mullican was widely considered the artist of the family. However, towards the end of her life Luchita finally began to receive the recognition her work deserved. Nicole shares her enthusiasm for this upcoming retrospective of Luchita Hurtado's work and highlights the importance of having it here in Taos.
