Have you ever found out about something that completely changed the way you do something? Some of us remember the glorious days of the 90’s where we would go to a store called Blockbuster to find VHS tapes or DVDs to rent. We’d take them home, watch them, (if it was VHS, make sure to rewind them), and then take them back. But now, we have digital streaming services like Prime Video that have forever changed the way we rent movies. We don’t have to leave the comfort of our couch! But there is an encounter that we can have that will provide change so profound that it doesn’t just alter our day, but our entire lives. And this is exactly what happened to Saul of Tarsus. He was a man on a mission, confidently marching towards Damascus with a clear purpose. But then, in a flash of blinding light, everything forever changed. Saul encountered Jesus, and his life was never the same again. And in this sermon, we dive into Acts 9:1-19a. This passage tells the incredible story of Saul's dramatic encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. This wasn't just a minor detour or a temporary inconvenience; this was a life-altering moment that redirected Saul’s entire existence. From a fierce persecutor of Christians to one of the most passionate apostles of Christ, Saul's story is a testament to the transformative power of meeting Jesus. And what we will learn in our passage, is that as we GET AFTER IT for the expanding of the Kingdom of God, that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace and that Jesus can completely redirect even the most unlikely people.
