Hasan's Story

In this episode of Blocked Britain, we meet Hasan, a 29-year-old from Southend West and Leigh in the East of England, whose healthcare career ambitions have been thwarted by central government choices. Despite having the motivation and meeting entry requirements, Hasan found himself locked out of NHS training opportunities. Health Education England's budget constraints, imposed by HM Treasury, have created artificial scarcity in a sector crying out for more workers. The training infrastructure exists, qualified candidates are ready, but Westminster treats public investment as a cost to be minimised rather than the pathway to getting trained professionals into understaffed wards.
