Hate Crimes Through 2024: Alaska

Alaska reported 5 hate crimes in 2022. Five. Then 2023 happened — 21 reported incidents. A 320 percent increase in a single year. But the real story is not the jump. Research shows only 10 percent of hate crime victims in Native communities report at all. 64 percent of Alaska's communities are accessible only by airplane, boat, or snowmobile.
