Hate - Why is there hatred?

Why is there hatred? How can we move beyond that and how can we deal with others hating something about us, our family, or anyone or anything else? How does hate grow and develop? What can we do to change, cope with or transform this hatred in our culture? When we don't know who we are we will polarize and begin to think that our way is the only way. What can we do to find out who we are and move beyond hate?  The news adds to this polarization, so perhaps we need to question the news.
