1890 da Kazan köyünde doğan Hatı Çırpan, Atatürk köylerine gelip ona kaç yaşında olduğunu sorduğunda 19 Mayıs 1919 tarihini, doğum tarihi olarak söyler ve "Ondan evvel yaşamıyordum ki!" der. Bu konuşma Hatı'nın, Mebus olma yolundaki ilk adımıdır ve 1935'te milletvekili olur. 5 Aralık 1934'de alınan kararla, Türk Kadınına Seçme ve Seçilme Hakkı verilmiştir.
