Walking throughout the city and talking to residents, it’s easy to see that History defines this region. Not only did it play a role in the Civil War, but it was also a stop along the Underground Railroad. With such a rich history full of murder, disease, war and destruction, it’s no wonder this little river town is said to have more than its fair share of unexplained happenings and paranormal phenomena.   Many blame the limestone rock and the Mississippi river for so much of the paranormal activity in Alton.
