We went to the cemetery two years ago and it was a phenomenal bit It really was I have a door prize if you listen to our last podcast we talked about how this particular venue We will have a really fun door price and we found a really fun door price So we'll have some kind of contest set up with that and it'll be a lot of fun So tickets are available now also on the 29th of October We have another dead talks a paranormal experience presentation and investigation at the town hub theater in american Fork We did this presentation and investigation back in september and we're asked to come back because it was so well received And I had movie posters made so when you walk up to the theater you're gonna have our movie poster right there like here at the cinema Advanced paranormal presents dead talks. Yeah, it's awesome. All right.
We have a number of library presentations Do you have the information with you on that? I do. I do. I do get my paper.
So library presentations The American Fork Library will be on Friday the 21st from 7 to 9 p.m And then the Springville Library will be on Wednesday October 26th at 7 p So these are fun. Yeah, we had a good time doing these in the past and we had requests from these libraries We're getting more requests every year on this it seems like oh, yeah in the past We've only done one a year and this year boom got four so the words getting out people like these if you have friends that say Oh, we'd like to go go something but it's too scary. We don't dare This is the perfect thing to bring in to because the first hour we just have a fun PowerPoint We just kind of talk about what those ten is what it is that we do get almost call it a paranormal one-on-one You know just kind of the basics and then we do a very short investigation and you know they can stay for that if you like They can leave if they would like and when I say short investigation literally it's like 20 minutes 20 30 minutes tops And it's in a library. I mean how scary can my brain be right?
Yeah, and how big can it be? I mean that's one of the reasons yeah, so this is the perfect thing to bring your friends to if they are interested that are too scared or Just send your friends. I I have a friend. I know that library can be scary I actually have a friend that's a scared of the ghost and I think I might twist our arm to come to one of these So I think that's it for the business.

Well, sounds like we've had some residential So I am excited to hear what happened at the residential as we Sounds like we've had to yeah, so remember remember our last podcast. I said we had a residential, but I didn't go And I don't know anything about it.
I sounded super lame. Yeah, I do remember that Yeah, so I found out about it. It was a rental and they've been having a hard time renting it and so The owner thought maybe there's something paranormal that's keeping it from being rented And so they had our team come over and there were some broken glass in one of the Windows and some ash you know like cigarette smoke ash and so they figured out, you know, some kids have broken in You know to come smoking empty in building and you know, and they didn't think that was paranormal You know they figured that was just Bandilism but when they went in you know, they had like an attic Access, you know what the board used to let the board slide it over and it was all ski-wampas Well as they were doing the investigation they made contact with the original homeowner who was still in the house Apparently he moved that board trying to scare those kids out of the house. So that was interesting I guess there's several spirits in there that were just kind of tooling around nothing nothing to level it They made contact with a lady and a couple other spirits, you know, nothing really super crazy I'm other than the homeowner moving the board But they were able to take care of everything that was there and we'll have to see if they are able to rent it out anytime soon Yeah, maybe we can get an update on that one.
Yeah, absolutely And then what happened the other day so last night we went on one and the homeowner She was probably what in her 60s? Yeah, yeah, and she said that when she was younger She actually had to have a sort of an exorcism performed on her and you know seemed to live live fine And she didn't think she was possessed again, but she did have activity going on in her house. She was seeing shadows She has a craft room and she was in doing crafts And she said I walked out just you know to fill up a cup of water and went back into the room She said I was gone for 30 seconds So when I went back in everything was knocked over and there was something that she normally keeps in the bottom drawer That was in the middle of the table. She's like I did not get that out And there's you know, there's no one in the house that would have run in there in that 30 seconds and gotten it out She complained about just a very dark feeling in the basement and her Son and his family actually live there right now in the basement and they actually with them Yeah, and they have some very unsettled feelings going on so we went over I actually listened to those EDPs today I can be really bad at listening to my EPs and I didn't get anything I did hear an audible whisper that we didn't catch it on a recording and these spirits love to play with the flashlights So there was a lot of flashlight play Ethan found a portal I mean it was it was a good investigation, but not a lot of evidence.
I was disappointed I was really hoping we get some EDPs, but we cleanse the house the interesting thing is when we pulled up to the house I got out of the car and I'm like I have got the worst I think all of a sudden when we went into the house The homeowner was telling us that she got really bad headaches and the daughter said that she got really bad headaches And I looked at the team and I'm like what did I say when I got out of the car? And I like it did you got a really bad headache and she said you know it only seems to affect women. I Didn't get a really bad headache. I was gonna say I'd be worried about carbon monoxide But it could be ghosts I guess right well I think it just you know cuz her husband and her son or son and I don't remember which one I think it was her son.
I'm not possible. Anyway, they don't the son and the husband don't get Yeah, the men didn't complain about getting headaches. So so much for your carbon monoxide theory doc I suppose you win this one selective carbon monoxide There's as we were going around the house. There was definitely some places that felt darker She said her granddaughter They could hear her granddaughter talking to someone and through the course of the investigation the granddaughter actually had a protective spirit that was With her and she was talking to the protective spirit But you know one of the things that she said was they would hear voices and I heard a whisper at least I couldn't tell what it said and I really I listened to that recording a hundred times.
You know I hands did I turn up I wore different headphones, but I wasn't on recording But they seem happy they didn't call me today usually if things don't work they call but they didn't also No, I felt a lot lighter when we left they had everybody mentioned that yeah, even even the visible light was a lot lighter The rooms did seem seem brighter than when we got there and that's kind of strange because the lights were all on when we got there And it was kind of you know That's time and then it got darker as far as the time of day, but it seemed to get lighter in the rooms Well, that's always good when it feels successful. Oh, yeah It actually turned out to be one type three and then he had like three little type three minions with him They were trying to they were trying to take over the world. I guess you could say but they were kind of Impy well fun. So yeah, I think it turned out well, that's good you guys were out there and I say it's fun like How terrifying for those people that have done for us Well, you know one thing I've noticed about when we run into these type three is the one that we the ones we typically run into they're fairly Lower level lower level the nine, you know I hope it stays that way I don't want to run into any better more powerful But even though these little the money entities don't have a whole lot of power they can project to be a lot bigger and scarier than they are And they do that with people that aren't informed or knowledgeable about what's really going on You know that they're fairly easy to deal with when they're the level that we are that we typically deal with Yeah, they can just project themselves to be a lot scarier than they really are when when you get in there and kind of calling out think of Bullies, you know the bullies which I'm like they're all this and all that and but when you call them on it, you know They back off yeah the vast majority will back off when confronted they don't want to be challenged They just want to intimidate Investigations are brought to you by Otaos restaurant.

Oh, I did yeah last podcast I was going to you know This was the whole thing and it's boy you are on running on unicorn dust right now because I was expecting some kind of big crazy story like I ate there No, okay, what happened no, we so I actually well we've been telling every been telling people on podcast for a hundred podcasts We never do we never do in the last podcast? I said I'm going to eat there and this time I can say I did and it was as good as I remember it was even better I went with my siblings My siblings and I have never done anything just the four of us On our own without your parents without my parents being there You know my parents have a barbecue a all over and we get long We just have never done anything and I kind of said you know Our parents are getting that age that they're not gonna be around very long We should probably you know learn to do stuff you know keep together I mean we talked but we just have never all four of us done something so there we are sitting there at the restaurant and I actually quite like it.
They all they all loved it. We got appetizers, which I don't know that we've done appetizers there before I don't think we have and then we got dessert and since we've done investigations with the owner He saw us out there and we ordered one dessert and then he sent us out the other dessert The wait just came out she's like you got it the owner said you got to try this and everything was fantastic So that the desserts we got I don't remember what the one was The one we ordered they were both good the one we ordered was like churro churro sticks But not sure it was like think of a churro, but like a fresh homemade really good churro with like a dipping sauce I would have liked to thought that but I didn't have one brought home to me. You did not I did however have a filet mignon brought home to me I did bring I did bring dinner, which was fabulous very very well done cooked to perfection as a medium rare Very good. We're just talking shipwreck ghost stories. You can listen to me talk who wants to go first thing When I go before me I found some interesting things just aside No, I found a lot of like ghost ships itself. So before we get into that though I was interested in the ghost of the Titanic The you know famous one we all know about it people have witnessed huge strangeness around the area where it sink There's a reported seeing mysterious lights hovering above the water as well as glowing orbs that floated just underneath the surface of the ocean That was interesting that it's not on the ship itself. It's like in the water several months ago We did blackbirds ghost.
I think they talked about lights being on the water with him. Yeah, some of that also in the Bermuda Triangle area also but It seems to be a phenomenon as the lights of where some other exit ended up So I did want to kind of put in there Some website was talking about ghosts on land compared to ghosts of water and goes from like shipwrecks And it was saying about how like you know if you dive on the surface your soul is free to seek out in afterlife But if they drown in the water it traps and possibly binds their soul or in the restless in the currents But shipwrecked ghosts ghosts are supposed to be strong And so it's like a strong life force of a human which flows out at death and it's not dissipating on board a ship But is instead concentrated trapped within a cabin or a galley or anywhere they died. So I don't know what's interesting It is interesting So you don't want to die in the water because you'll be restless. Yeah Explains parts of the Caribbean a lot So as you're sitting here and we're having this conversation I get a text message from my mom telling me that the crews that I'm scheduled to be on in May has been canceled as we're talking about onto chips The ship is canceled.
So the first thing I asked is like why I haven't really got a good answer yet Well, maybe it's because the ship is haunted. Maybe this is a thing. Maybe it's haunted. Yeah, maybe maybe you just escaped death just now Well, that's the one that's supposed to be taking me to the holy lands Jerusalem Go ship in holy lands.
It's an interesting combo. Well, I hope you get it rescheduled. Well, she said that they're gonna try to find a different place. I guess people don't hear this Squirrel going from the holy lands crews to maybe go to Greece Yeah, so as we talked about this though the one thing that I've seen when I was doing some of my research is that you can buy a Go ship so just out there floating around these abandoned ships.
You can take ownership of those things Rogue so we still need to buy a ghost town. We can have a ghost ship to yeah and Jessica You can hop in on this now. Maybe we can get a ghost port so we can port the ship So our town is a little port so we have to have a ghost town on the coast. Yeah Yeah, we can make our own little tour for the ghost ship and go to other ghostly places with it So just if you only defined as one in Florida, then we come back.
I mean, I'm going on a cruise in June to Alaska, so I wonder how that's gonna be it's gonna be a west coast ghost All right, we'll talk about get back to haunted stuff All of our listeners are like hello Okay, so one of the things I thought was interesting just in general and then I'm gonna tell you about the Octavius is As I was researching haunted ships. There's a lot of ships out there in the ocean just tooling around a lot Just in general you mean a lot of ships that are like that are uninhabited just bopping around on the water I didn't have it once you mean uninhabited. Okay, and I get some of them can be from you know giant tsunamis and everything But there's a lot of ships out there just tooling around in the in the water just all by the onesies Without I read about those two is like creepy circumstances and everything Yeah, a lot of them where the people are just gone. They're not just washed overboard like like there's no evidence of anything bad happening They're just the people are gone a lot of people in the water unhappy.
Okay, so the Octavius when it comes to the Octavius You know back in the day there was this elusive North passage that people kept trying to find The Northwest Passage you guys have heard of this and they you know It was looked for over and over and over again and you know because it was an alternate trade route It could save time you know going to Asia especially before the Panama Canal came and they were looking at how it would cut off Thousands of miles if they could go north of around Canada and and Alaska to get to Asia The problem is oftentimes they would get stuck in the Arctic ice and you know the ship would get ice in and then they were stuck there And they couldn't get out and so one of the ones that is the most famous For her sad and creepy reasons is the Octavius because when people got there was a very very grim scene that makes this particular Goship very terrifying, so you know just envision a three-masted schooner Left England in 1761, but they found it off the coast of Greenland in 1775 So it's not there for almost 15 years before they got to it So the captain decided to try and use you know what they thought was the Northwest Passage But it's not to come home and there were five men when they found the ship in 1775 You know that there's all here's the ship they walk on The entire 28th man crew was below deck, but they were all frozen to death and you know, so they're frozen So they're all preserved the icy figure of the ships captain was discovered sitting at his desk writing in his logbook pen still in hand So it's not like I mean it was almost like he was flash frozen the last logbook entry was in 1762 They'd been lost at sea for like you said 13 14 years before they they were found that would be a site You're walking onto that ship and just seeing 28 people just frozen staring at you and then you know the ghosts that would be there That would be I wonder what the atmosphere was like Walk in there probably pretty creepy You know just said Something kind of like opposite where it was really hot on the ship. It was the SS orang meeting I hope I consider it was 1947 and they were on the ship trying to do an SOS Morse code, but it was undecipherable That's the last little burst afterwards. It said I die That's just really creepy. It was found eventually a direct approximately 50 miles from the indicated location And it was the it says it was littered with the corpse of the Dutch crew eyes wide open their arms grasping an unseen assailants their faces twisted into revolting visages of agony and horror and even the dog was dead on there and It was like hundred degrees Fahrenheit, but it was a disturbing chilineer from somewhere unknown in the ship and the body of the crewman Had no injuries to count their death, but they seem to be decomposing quicker than normal Wow, now is this the one that was in 1947?
Yes, okay, and I think it was called the orang orang midden mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep Yeah, I can't imagine like seeing such a thing. There's gotta be some ghosts on there Right, and then I read about that one that at one point there was an engine room engine room fire It caused the ship to be abandoned and it eventually sank and so because of that they weren't able to do autopsies or give any more information to figure out What happened?
That is crazy. I die. Oh Even as we were looking on YouTube and on the internet, you know looking for these stories the one that came up over and over and over and over again Was the Mary Celeste? Yeah, she's probably one of the most Well-known ghost ship stories.
Yeah, and she actually is so well known that Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a short story about her Do you want to kind of run with this for a second chat? Well, the the Mary Celeste started out as a ship and I think it was like the Victoria or something like that before and it had had a small issue You know been repurposed and then Recryssened as the Mary Celeste bought by a couple of two different two or three different things I think the captain of the first ship actually died on board, you know And then they brought it in port and did some different things and then you know ships were very expensive So they re-outfit it or and renamed her and went through a couple of different Owners another captain actually had died on the ship also in another voyage And then a little bit later the main captain or the one they talked about mostly He was on board with his his wife and their two-year-old baby girl I believe and I think 8 or 10 crewmen and they were taking a shipment of De-natured alcohol or isopropyl alcohol I'm not sure which one it was from Canada to the Mediterranean to Italy. That was that was their cardowin. There was another ship I didn't know the name like an Italian name and the two captains hit the ships were of similar size It was called the de-gratia the de-gratia Okay, the two ships were of similar size and the captains knew each other and they had dinner together You know talking about their voyages and what they were going to do and the Mary Celeste actually left There had been a pretty good storm the Mary Celeste left a few days before the second ship left around the Azores Islands You know a couple weeks later during the the voyage of the second ship the captain was woken up and said we've spotted You know a derelict ship, you know They went and they threw the spy glass and saw that it was the Mary Celeste and you know He became a little worried because he knew that the guy's wife and child was on it And you know he was somewhat of a friend and he became worried about the crew so they actually went over to the Mary Celeste and Three or four guys went over and secured it and they didn't there was nobody on it There was the lifeboat was missing and some of the rigging were down But not you know tattered and destroyed just a lot of things that were kind of out of place There was a journal entry but nothing to explain why everybody would have left the the Mary Celeste But there was nobody on board.
There wasn't there wasn't signs of violence. There wasn't signs of anything like that As the captain of the second ship had three or four of his men stay on the Mary Celeste and bring it in They were gonna get the salvage for it for a derelict ship You know and also bring it into port as they were bringing it in they lost sight of it They lost track of it in a fog that seemed just to come around the Mary Celeste It wasn't you know it was very localized it was very interesting and they lost sight of it and they couldn't do it So they went on after searching for their crew and they went on to port in Gibraltar They were there and they had reported what had what had happened to the port authorities there in Gibraltar And then a day or two later the Mary Celeste did come in with their crewmen and the new crewmen were okay or the crewmen from the other ship We're okay But had you know become somewhat lost and couldn't find their way back You know they arrived a couple of days after the other ship and they were starting at the same point kind of strange That was one of those things that a lot of the people thought maybe this other ship had you know killed the people on the Mary Celeste That was pretty much disputed and and thrown you know turned away because these the guys had known each other But very interesting there really never was an answer of what had happened on the Mary Celeste one of the theories that I had heard And it wasn't in the art one of the theories was that very possibly there would may have been a leak with the isopropyl alcohol or the Deen-Hian alcohol and the fumes may have become overpowering and the crew got on the lifeboat to get away from the ship So that they were afraid that it might blow up because of the you know overwhelming fumes But that was never proven either so they don't really know what happened eventually the cargo was taken to Italy and sold and Interesting things about the ship but three different captains died on that ship So one of the things I found interesting about the Mary Celeste is because you know because three of the captains died and the whole crew disappeared And they actually put that ship back into service I mean it sat out of service because it was a cursed ship somebody bought it put it back into service But it just wasn't profitable because anybody that worked on that ship they had to pay them so high Because it was a cursed ship that they just didn't make any money off of it. Yes, it was never really a profitable venture Cursed object you can't get much bigger than a cursed 90-foot ship If I say haunted ship does the name of a particular ship come to anybody's mind. Yes, which one the flying Dutchman there we go Doc tell us about the flying Dutchman.
Oh The flying Dutchman probably the most famous haunted ghost ship I think in history in the 17th century the it was the Dutch East India Company had A route that went from Holland down to Java and the legend is that the flying Dutchman could make incredible times down to Java and they were so fast that the claim wasn't they need to deal with the devil basically to To have the speed and this ability to go down there and reportedly there's two different stories reportedly either Due to crimes that were committed for the fact that the crew had the plague they were denied port near the Cape of the just around the tip of Africa and They were sailing into a storm and the crew was terrified to go forward in the captain said we're going for it anyway And the captain swore into the wind that he and his crew would round the cave if he had to beat about the waves until judgment day And legend has it that the ship obviously didn't make it through the storm It's sank and the crew perished But because of that statement about beating about the waves until judgment day the legend is that this ghost ship continues to sail And will continue to do so until the judgment day and it is a pre-armint assigned So there've been people who claim to see a kind of an early lit ship out in the horizon or out in the seas and it's usually a a harbinger of bad stuff Harbinger of badness Yeah, and I think it's interesting the most famous report of someone seen the flying Dutchman was actually King George the fifth He apparently saw her all glowing and lit up just along the coast of Australia as they were sailing in the vast straits And this ship is so famous that it's really become popular You know in literature and art movies she inspired wag Richard Wagner's opera the flying Dutchman and you see it in part of the Caribbean Deadman's chest But this to me is like quintessential you're out on the ocean you see this this pirate ship I don't want to see it. This is when I don't want to see it because apparently it was a bad woman And if you see it bad stuff happens when you guys go on your cruises to Turkey don't be looking for their ship Don't go out at night and look for the ship keep your eyes shut Like a two-year-old if you can't see it you can't see you right? Okay, it won't exist if you don't look at it. Okay.
Okay. There we go. All right. You're safe.
I'm good I problem so we were talking about like go ships for the ocean, but there is a ton of stuff going on with Lake Superior I don't know if you've heard any of the stuff going on there but there's been dozens if not hundreds of shipwrecks over the past three centuries there and When the bodies go underwater they don't really decompose down there There's one called old widey of Lake Superior. It was a SS camoops And there was someone on there who's nicknamed old widey but you know in life he was called grandpa and he was an engineer on that boat and It sank and he went down like within it and there's 24 shipmates that all went down inside of it and divers can go down there and like see him and Apparently he has scuba divers have seen an animated corpse Still living on the boat and has been known to wave to the divers and walk on top of the hole and even follow divers what they explore the ship And some even claim to experience them touching them. Oh, that's creepy a little bit Yeah, I I saw like a video and like tik tok where this girl who they talk about all the crazy stuff with lakes and yeah So like there's something special about the waters in Lake Superior that they bodies are just still there Yeah, the great like Podcast on the great lakes triangle not that long ago Yeah, just shortly before you joined us and we talked about some of these kinds of things that we hadn't talked about that one No, that is the stuff of creepy nightmares I'm still hung up on the you're tooling around in your wetsuit and your scuba gear and you got zombie shipwreck dude Gathering shoulder. Yeah, no, I don't like that.
Mm-hmm. And there's like legit a body there kind of like on Mount Everest They have like bodies just still there too Yeah, we watch sometimes a YouTube channel ask a mortician and She has done a little while ago one about the Edmund Fitzgerald Which was one of the ships that cracked up and I think it was in the 60s on on the Great Lakes And they talked about the bodies how they don't decompose Because the water is so cold and so little oxygen that after 30 40 50 60 years. They're still mostly mostly there I'm sure they're not you know pristine, but yeah kind of creepy Well, it's a minute sad too. So I think I mean the flying Dutchman, you know, we've talked about it It's probably my favorite go ship, but I think my second favorite one.
Did you guys read about lady the lady love a bond? Yeah, I had a little bit about that too. I didn't so you didn't hear about this one. I don't think so already forgot I think you forgot cuz I'm talking about so there was a ship and the captain got married and Apparently his friend was in love with his wife That you know, they kind of were both suitors and the one that didn't get the girl Out of vengeance he got on the ship that they were honeymooning on and steered the ship into the notorious good wind sands I guess if you're a sailor that might be more to you than this to me and the ship sunk and it killed everybody on board So what I think is interesting is since then It can it's seen every 50 years selling around Kent.
So it's been seen in 1798 1848 1898 The 1948 these are years that the ship has actually been witnessed apparently some boats would send out rescuers I mean sometimes people see the boat and go oh we need to send a Send the rescue ship out there, you know cuz I thought it was in distress But when they got out there they couldn't find it no one's actually ever found the ship You know like like the debris of it or you know the wreckage so is it a legend? Is it real? So I'm thinking 48 it should have been seen again in 98 so 50 years from 98 would be 2048 So in 2048 run down there go go to camp and look for the if you can see the ship the country people actually do that I would I would if I'm kicking around in in 2048 I think I might take a trip It just seemed it just seems so I don't know Just a little love triangle and the heartbroken man if I can't have her no one can have her and so I'll kill everyone on the ship because That's a really good karma and every 50 years you can see the ship sailing around to me. That's just Romantic and sad and spooky That's a good go story right there.
I'm getting a look like it's not that not very romantic So there was another one that was not this was a more recent one there were And Shady might have to jump in and save me as I tell this story very poorly But there was a ship had at least one man on it maybe two or three of us friends that all experienced sailors And they just disappeared some people found the ship to learn around the ocean This is like a big catamaran You know fairly, you know probably you know in 2002's, you know, early 2000s I believe if I'm remembering right we watched a lot of different videos and some of them Yeah, that was about the right time here quite more modern. Yeah, and the there were three three people a guy and two of his friends Who they were brothers and if I remember if this is the right one the ship was actually located The two friends were never seen again. Right and then the one I'm thinking of and again We might be getting a couple stories merging, but they found the captain at the table He'd written a letter to his wife and he just with a saltwater and everything he actually was mummified Yeah Yeah, and then they they hauled the ship in and other people had used it There'd been all sorts of problems with it after that and it ended up, you know Just derelict and you know pulled up into the land and you know, this was you know very expensive, you know Catamaran yacht kind of thing that you know people could go around the world and kind of yacht Yeah, very sad So the last ship that I have and I kind of saved it for last just because it's got an interesting story It's the HMS Resolute. It was a British Royal Navy ship It was found in 1854 abandoned and adrift off the coast of the Bath and Islands in the Canadian Arctic It was one of these ships that tried to go through the non-existent Northwest Passage and you know I kind of had a similar fate as the other ones got iced in Crew abandoned and the thing about these crews is they just they find zero trace of them whatsoever zero You know, I realized okay, maybe they got eaten by polar bears, but there's good round or you know There's I realize there's things that can happen But it's just weird that none of these people are found ever Yeah, I'm I'm thinking being on the ship might be a better option than not being on the ship in many of these situations Yeah, because at least they'll find you and know what happened to you But again, there's a very eerie scene when the people discovered it in 1855 The captains cabin remained undisturbed with a teapot bible and glasses full of liquor still on the desk A British lag had been left draped over the chair of the ship's commander whose name was Captain Kellett They eventually retrieved and retired the HMS Resolute in 1879 and this is what I thought was interesting Her timbers were used to construct the resolute desk. I watched that documentary National treasure. Yeah, the resolute desk is the one that's been used by almost every American president in the Oval Office And I believe the British monarch has an identical desk made from the resolute interesting so that desk is probably haunted Could be by presidents past well and the people in the resolute all that to you Interesting that the timbers were from the resolute were used for a desk and given to the American president Yeah, I just wonder how that process went down this ship got stuck in the ice the whole crew vanished It's really weird and really creepy. All right, so here we go Some of the superstitions about just Halloween in general one of the old Halloween superstitions say that souls trapped in purgatory Are set free for 48 hours on all how is it if you wear your clothing inside out and walk backwards on Halloween? You will see a witch at midnight. Have you guys heard this one before I've heard something like that No, okay, I never really wanted to see the witch I never tried it as a kid Midnight on Halloween if you light a new orange colored candle and let it burn until sunrise you'll receive good luck It sounds like a fire hazard to me The house doesn't burn down But maybe that's your good luck if you wake up in the morning and your house is still intact when your fire alarm hasn't gone off You've got good luck This is one that I've actually heard if you stand it across road on Halloween night It will attract spirits traveling the earth to you and they say the superstitions says that the spirits will whisper about your future But you have to be careful because crossroads are a dangerous place where a man can sell his soul to the devil So, you know you can either find out secret to the future or you can sell your soul I guess it's up to you But the interesting thing thieves and suicides I would intentionally be buried at crossroads to make it difficult for their ghost to know Which road led back home? So there's that if you bury some animal bones or a picture of an animal near your doorway on Halloween It's supposed to prevent ghosts from coming into your house Seeing a spider on Halloween means the spirit of a loved one is watching over you If you live in England little shout out to our English listeners They have a superstition that says nuts can be used as magic charms And this is because they believe the devil would gather and use nuts So that sounds like it would be bad magic charms.
That's just me and now I'm worried because I was eating walnuts while we were podcasting And I'm wondering what that says about me, but anyhow, let's see How about some summit we spend a lot of time in cemeteries. We're gonna be or not podcasting from the cemetery We are going to be Cemetery so here's some cemetery superstitions when you go past a graveyard or any place where someone has died You must turn your pockets inside out so you don't bring a ghost home with you because I'll just Pop in your pocket. I think anybody knows this one of the common superstitions say that plowing or digging into land that has a body buried in it In it is bad luck. You know if you watch poltergeist, I think you figured that one out An old cemetery superstition states that in a new graveyard the body that fills the first grave will always be cleaned by the devil So Germans would avoid this curse by burying a dog or a pig first I'll work around Being buried in a grave on the south side of the church is the holiest location in the cemetery Now my kids heard this next one and my kids would do this when they were little We drive past a cemetery they would hold their breath says a common superstition says you must hold your breath while driving past a cemetery If you breathe each breath can wake a spirit making a spirit jealous or letting it into your body So my kids would hold their breath every time we passed a cemetery There's one that we drive past a lot and so me being the person I am as soon as they did this I would drive slower Like I'm trying to kill your children you're gonna hold you let's see how long you can hold your breath get out And then I would laugh okay, I liked this one pointing at a grave will make your finger rot off so don't point at a grave Unless you want things to fall off and old superstition says sharing a grave with a stillborn child is a guaranteed way into heaven The adult will guide and comfort the baby to make sure the child finds its way into paradise If you go to a funeral in here thundershoeing after it means the deceased soul has made it to heaven Owl superstitions owls eat the souls of the dying when they swoop down to earth Wow Yeah, I've never heard that before Owls have been associated with death throughout history So it's said to be a death omen if an owl purchase on your roof or constantly hoots nearby Some believe it can be the death of a job or relationship or something other than physical death an abandoned house with an owl living in it Is likely a haunted house because owls can happily exist with ghosts nearby There was a movie about aliens They said like an owl if it was nearby meant like an alien thing and I never saw a movie But heard about it and right on that time I heard like a hoo-hoo outside my window And I was like I don't have a tree up there and it was on the top of the like roof just above my window I was like great, amazing Yeah, superstitions are awesome.

What does it do? It brings the other side. Yeah, yes, it does. You can't decide which way to go because it's a cat.
Yeah So North America, I thought it was a chicken across the road. Yeah, they cross the road to get to the other side White cats cross your path though. That's bad. Yes, they do So North America black cat crossing your path is bad luck white cat is good luck But if you live in Ireland to Japan and Britain a white cat is bad luck and a black cat is good luck What what people in Britain?

Um, my friend had like three cemeteries around our house So of course on Halloween, what do we do go up in there? I was horrified scared can't do all that cuz growing up no way of anything scary Well, I'm walking by just randomly I go wouldn't it be crazy if there was someone that died like at the same time And the very next thing I looked at had stone they said I died on October 31st And I was like that's just weird so not sure what that was about but combo of possibly a ghost cemetery letting me think about it on Halloween I don't know okay.

These are just kind of generic common ones But some of us haven't heard of before so apparently walking around a ghost nine times will make it disappear Okay, we got our new our new ghost Okay, they're right there. I'll probably laugh at you and there goes But and you see the homeowners going oh my gosh, they've gone crazy Singing while eating food can attract a witch.
