Haunted Sioux Falls Episode 11 Devils Gultch
from The Haunted Sioux Falls · host John and Heidi Show
Welcome to Haunted Sioux Falls, I’m your host, John Small. On this episode, we head to Garretson, South Dakota for a trip to Devil's Gulch! About twenty miles northeast of Sioux Falls lies Devil’s Gulch, a dramatic chasm carved by Split Rock Creek. The site is famous for the tale of outlaw Jesse James, who supposedly leapt across it on horseback to escape a posse chasing him down after a bank robbery in Minnesota. That may be the most famous story from the Devil's Gulch, but locals whisper about other, stranger tales. Hikers have reported hearing ghostly cries echoing off the stone walls. Some speak of a woman in white, appearing near the bridge, only to vanish into the mist. Others describe the feeling of being followed through the canyon, footsteps crunching just behind them—though no one is there. Legends tie the beautiful gulch to lost lovers, tragic falls, and ancient spirits tied to the land itself. Whether you believe or not, Devil’s Gulch seems to carry an energy that visitors don’t soon forget. Stand at the edge, and you might just feel history—and mystery—staring back at you. Have you experienced something strange or spooky in the Sioux Falls area? Please reach out. I’d love to hear your story.
