Haunted Sioux Falls Episode 2 The Orpheum Theater
from The Haunted Sioux Falls · host John and Heidi Show
Welcome to Haunted Sioux Falls, I’m your host, John Small. On this episode, we step into the spotlight at a local theater that may just have a guest that never leaves. Downtown Sioux Falls holds a stage where ghosts may still perform—the Orpheum Theatre. Built in 1913, it’s hosted vaudeville acts, films, and concerts. But for nearly a century, actors and stagehands have whispered about one permanent resident. They call him “Larry.” No one knows exactly who he was. Some say a stagehand crushed in the rigging. Others claim a man who died of a heart attack mid-performance. What’s agreed upon is that Larry likes to make his presence known. Props vanish and reappear. Lights flicker at the worst possible moments. A few actors swear they’ve felt a hand on their shoulder—only to turn and find no one there. And in the balcony, several guests insist they’ve seen a lone figure sitting in the shadows, watching. Is Larry mischievous? Protective? Perhaps he simply refuses to leave the theatre he loved. Whatever the case, his legend is as much a part of the Orpheum as its velvet curtains. Next time you take your seat, glance toward the balcony. Larry may already be watching you. Have you experienced something strange or spooky in the Sioux Falls area? Please reach out. I’d love to hear your story.
