Haunted Sioux Falls Episode 9 Calvary Cathedral
from The Haunted Sioux Falls · host John and Heidi Show
Welcome to Haunted Sioux Falls, I’m your host, John Small. On this episode, we head to church... not quite where you'd expect... is it?! In the heart of Sioux Falls, whispers persist about a church said to be haunted. According to the historical marker at the location of Calvary Cathedral, Bishop William Hobart Hare's remains are buried on the North side of the Cathedral. His body was moved there from the Southwest side of the building where the addition was built. Some unexplained power issues and other experiences in this church have people whispering stories from the beyond. The ghost of a Native American sitting at the desk of one of the pastors. Incessant pounding on the inside of a locked door. When a key was finally located, the room was found to be empty. Late at night, passersby claim to hear the sound of a choir inside, though the building is dark and locked. Shadows have been seen moving behind stained glass windows, and a few visitors have reported the smell of incense where none was burning. One account tells of a pastor working late, who felt someone tap his shoulder. When he turned, the pews were empty. Another recalls organ keys pressed down by invisible hands, holding a single low note until the pastor fled. Is it the spirits of devoted worshippers, returning to the place they loved? Or is something else echoing through the rafters? Haunted or holy, this church holds mysteries as old as the city itself. Have you experienced something strange or spooky in the Sioux Falls area? Please reach out. I’d love to hear your story. Connect with us at the bottom of the page at HauntedSiouxFalls.com Until next time… stay curious, stay brave, and beware of the whispers in the dark.
