Haunted Tales of Darkness - The Lady of Rosemount

from Para-X Radio · host neghostproject

Published in 1919 in the collection Six Ghost Stories, issued by John Murray, London, The Lady of Rosemount is the opening tale in Jackson's only collection of supernatural fiction. Written late in his life, the stories reveal the influence of M. R. James while retaining Jackson's own deep knowledge of medieval architecture and antiquarian history. When the young antiquary Henry Charlton visits the ancient Rosemount Abbey, a chance discovery of a forgotten medieval tomb awakens a fascination he cannot explain. Drawn ever closer to the mysterious Lady Alianora, he soon discovers that some beauties of the past refuse to rest in peace—and that curiosity may invite far more than forgotten history. Presented by Haunted Tales of Darkness — preserving the finest forgotten tales of the supernatural. Narrated by Christopher Halton.
