Have scamming churches been noticed?
from Cant Catch a Break Hosted by DeeJay & Dr. Char Phillips Johnson
Are you witnessing this Falseness in some of the churches ? Scamming churches for donations refers to fraudulent schemes where criminals impersonate religious leaders or organizations to trick members into giving them money. Common tactics include fake emails or texts from imposters asking for urgent help, like purchasing gift cards, or setting up fake charities and crowdfunding sites. These scams exploit people's trust and faith, and they can also occur through fake checks or phishing for sensitive information. Verify requests: Do not trust emails or texts asking for urgent money, especially gift cards. Always verify by calling the church office or the leader directly using a known phone number. Be wary of pressure: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to rush you into donating. Legitimate organizations will not pressure you for an immediate, on-the-spot donation. impersonate pastors, priests, or other leaders. They often claim they cannot talk on the phone due to a meeting and ask for quick, urgent donations
