Having Children Is Less of a Commitment Than Marriage?

What's going on everyone!! Today we're talking about something that might make a few people uncomfortable, but you know that's where some of the best conversations happen. I want to talk about this idea that our thinking around marriage and children might be completely backwards. Somehow we've become a society where people will have a baby together after a few months of dating, but the idea of marriage feels too serious. People say things like: "I don't know if I'm ready to get married." But they'll have a child with someone. And I just want to ask the question: How did we get here? Because from where I'm sitting, having a child with someone is one of the biggest commitments you can make. Not because children are a burden—they're a blessing. But because a child connects you to another person for the rest of your life. Marriage can end. Parenting doesn't. Let's talk about it.
