HBO's Lanterns Hates White Men

Watch this video without ads on Substack: https://connortomlinson.substack.com/p/hbos-lanterns-hates-white-men The goal of HBO’s Lanterns is to dethrone the straight white man as the hero in his own civilisation’s story. Hal Jordan is humiliated, murdered, and replaced with John Stewart, while the show complains about how useless white men are. John lets Hal’s murderer go free, and charges his ring using Sinestro’s yellow battery — despite, in the comics, being one of the most susceptible 2814 Lanterns to fear and doubt. But for Tom King and Damon Lindelof, ideology takes precedence over the source material. The message Lanterns sends is that the most heroic thing a white man can do is die so that women and minorities have more opportunities.
