"He Also Did PREDESTINATE" (Romans 8:29,30), parts 2/4
from The Bible Provocateur · host The Bible Provocateur
Send us Fan MailPredestination gets treated like a theological grenade, but we argue it should feel like oxygen. When we start with God’s foreknowledge and sovereign love, fear starts losing its grip, because salvation stops resting on our moods, our willpower, or our ability to keep rules we already know we break. We talk plainly about why “obey the faith” is not the same thing as trying to obey the law to finish what Jesus already completed. We share real experiences of being told certain verses and doctrines were “not allowed” in church settings, then ask the hard question: what kind of system benefits when believers stay unsure of their salvation? From there we connect sovereignty to everyday life. If God is not sovereign over health, money, and sanctification, why would anyone pray for help, peace, or victory over indwelling sin? A man-centered gospel produces restless striving; a Christ-centered gospel produces Sabbath-like rest. Then we camp out in Romans 8, the golden chain of salvation, and the purpose behind it all: Christ being the firstborn among many brothers and sisters, with God’s plan displaying the Son’s glory to all creation. We also pull in Ephesians 1 to show why being chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world is not a cold idea but a warm foundation for assurance.
