Deep political divisions and echo chambers make communication more difficult and taint what starts as disagreement with hostility and hatred. The opinion of non-Christians toward Christians and vice versa have only worsened in recent years. Yet both those inside and outside the church register concern about the lack of civility in culture today. By contrast, Jesus faced deep anger and mischaracterization by those who hated him, yet he responded by rejecting outrage with love and kindness.
