He Went to the Cross Alone

from Open House Church Sermons · host KJ Tromp

Jesus’ closest friends fall asleep when He asks them to watch and pray, then flee when He is arrested. The armed mob seems powerful, but Jesus says Scripture is being fulfilled and refuses the angelic rescue He could command. He chooses the cross freely, carrying the punishment for sin under His Father’s will. The Father who crushes Him will also raise Him to glory, so salvation rests in Christ alone and sinners must go to Him. Bible Reference: Matthew 26:36–68 Preacher: KJ Tromp
