Headlines: Jailed Aussie whistleblower's new appeal bid

Today's headlines include: Jailed whistleblower David McBride has lodged an appeal application to Australia’s highest court, seeking to overturn charges for leaking secret defence documents.  A former student of Western Sydney University (WSU) has been charged over a series of cyberattacks between 2021 and 2025.  The death penalty will be abolished in Vietnam for several crimes, including embezzlement, spying and attempting to overthrow the Government.
