HeadSet Sports - Episode 30 - Interview with Cara Morey - "Players Want to Get Better ..." ... "They Want to be Connected"

When you have the chance to speak with Cara Morey, you can feel that you are in the presence of a person who is not just a "winner" but someone who is meant to do "more". Cara Morey is the Head Coach of the Princeton Tigers - Women's Varsity Hockey team. She was named head-coach in 2017-18, and since she had done nothing else but ... "Win" ... Since her inception as head coach during the 2017-18 season, the team has; won its first ECAC title, won an Ivy League Championship, had two NCAA Quarter Finals Appearances, and set the team record for the most wins as coach. This former member of the Canadian National Team Program member as an athlete for two years, has gone back to coach within the program as well. As a player she's won Gold (Nations Cup), and as a coach, she has won Gold, Silver, and Bronze. She was a two sport athlete at Brown University - Ice hockey and field hockey. As an ice hockey player, she was an All-ECAC and Ivy League Player. She also was able to lead her team to three National Tournament appearances, of which she had two Runners-Up/Finalist appearances. She is also the FIRST female coach to be invited to work with the Philadelphia Flyers. This interview is filled with tons of insight and incredible coaching nuggets of gold!  After speaking with Cara, you can't help but feel as if she has just made you "smarter" ... Her perspectives as a coach, athlete and mentor display her tremendous insights regarding the mental make-up and mindset of an athlete. Cara's ability to tap into her athlete's mindset so as to get the "most" out of each of them provides both an understanding of what each athlete may need (individually) as well as a heightened level of emotional intelligence needed as both a coach and leader of future champions ... on and off the ice!  Cara's leadership style has fueled her to not only win at every level she has competed within, as both an athlete and coach -  it has now allowed her to develop her own leadership company which has been dubbed ...
