Healing After Suicide Loss | From Numbing the Night to Restoring Emotional Processing

from Healing After Suicide Loss with Jon Leclerc, The Suicide Loss Coach | MUSIC ;n HEAL · host Jon Leclerc, The Suicide Loss Coach

My dear fellow suicide loss survivor,In today's episode, we explore something many survivors live with after loss: Doing whatever helps us get through the night, while not always realizing what that coping may be costing us over time. After suicide loss, many survivors do what they can to survive the night. That makes sense. Coping mechanisms can help us get through overwhelm, emotional pain, and sleep disruption. But sometimes what helps us survive in the short term can also interfere with dreams, REM sleep, emotional processing, and deeper integration over the long term. For a long time, I thought I was helping myself cope, but over time, I realized that some of what helped me get through the night may also have been costing me the emotional processing my healing needed. Healing didn't begin when I shamed myself; healing began when I became aware of what my nights may have been costing me and started making small, honest adjustments from that awareness. In this episode, I share how my healing shifted when I stopped ignoring what was happening at night and started restoring emotional processing instead. This episode reflects the MUSIC ;n HEAL Approach as a trauma-informed, survivor-led pathway to emotional safety, suicide loss support, nervous system regulation, spiritual connection, and post-traumatic growth after suicide loss, without shaming coping or prescribing drastic all-at-once change. You'll hear why healing doesn't deepen when awareness is avoided, and why healing grows when we become honest about what our survival patterns may be costing us over time. You'll learn:✨ why some survival coping mechanisms can carry long-term healing costs✨ how dreams and REM sleep connect to deeper emotional processing✨ why this conversation is about awareness, not shame✨ how small adjustments can support deeper integration over time✨ why awareness leads to discernment, and discernment supports healingThis episode is for suicide loss survivors seeking healing after suicide loss through gentle, trauma-informed support.
