Healing After Suicide Loss | From Self-Abandonment to Safe Boundaries

from Healing After Suicide Loss with Jon Leclerc, The Suicide Loss Coach | MUSIC ;n HEAL · host Jon Leclerc, The Suicide Loss Coach

My dear fellow suicide loss survivor,In today's episode, we explore a deeply common but often unnamed pattern after loss: Self-abandonment.After losing someone's physical presence to suicide, many survivors begin saying yes to everything and everyone. Not because they want to or have capacity, but because guilt feels heavy, and disappointing others feels unsafe. You may feel that saying no is selfish. You may feel responsible for keeping the peace. You may feel that protecting your own energy is rejection. Not because you're broken, but because your nervous system is trying to prevent more rupture.Self-abandonment often becomes a survival strategy after suicide loss. It keeps us agreeable, available, and overextended. But over time, it drains the very energy required for healing. In this episode, I share how my own healing shifted when I realized that boundaries aren't cold, selfish, or rejection. They're nervous system regulation. We explore how constant yes responses can delay healing, and how small, safe boundaries restore capacity, safety, and emotional regulation. This episode reflects the MUSIC ;n HEAL Approach as a trauma-informed, survivor-led pathway to emotional safety, nervous system regulation, spiritual connection, and post-traumatic growth, without forcing isolation or abandoning relationships. You'll hear why healing doesn't require self-sacrifice.Healing deepens when safe boundaries are allowed. You'll learn:✨ why guilt makes saying no feel unsafe after suicide loss✨ how self-abandonment drains healing energy✨ why boundaries protect regulation, not just time✨ how small boundaries rebuild nervous system safety✨ how boundary-based regulation increases healing capacityThis episode is for suicide loss survivors seeking healing after suicide loss through gentle, trauma-informed support.
