Healing After Suicide Loss | From Suppressing Reminders to Embracing Connection
from Healing After Suicide Loss with Jon Leclerc, The Suicide Loss Coach | MUSIC ;n HEAL · host Jon Leclerc, The Suicide Loss Coach
My dear fellow suicide loss survivor,In today's episode, we explore a quiet but powerful shift many survivors face after loss: Moving from suppressing reminders to embracing connection. When you lose someone's physical presence to suicide loss, reminders can feel overwhelming. A song, a place, a hat, a familiar laugh in a stranger's voice. For many survivors, the instinct is to avoid these reminders, suppress them, or push them away just to get through the day.Not because reminders are wrong. But because at first, they hurt.Suppressing reminders often becomes a survival skill. It helps our nervous system avoid pain when it doesn't yet feel safe to feel.In this episode, I share how my own healing changed when I realized I wasn't meant to move on from my Soul Angel(s), but to move with them. I talk about how reminders that once felt triggering slowly became points of connection when safety replaced avoidance. We explore how avoiding reminders can keep our nervous system locked in survival mode, and how gently approaching them can help our nervous system feel safety, continuity, and connection again. This episode reflects the MUSIC ;n HEAL Approach as a trauma-informed, survivor-led pathway to emotional safety, nervous system regulation, spiritual connection, and post-traumatic growth, without forcing healing or suppressing love. You'll hear how reminders don't disappear with time, and how healing doesn't mean erasing them. Healing means learning how to meet them safely. You'll learn:✨ why suppressing reminders is a natural survival response after suicide loss✨ how avoidance signals danger to our nervous system✨ why reminders can become safe points of connection✨ how embracing reminders supports nervous system healing✨ how to move forward without abandoning your unique bondThis episode is for suicide loss survivors seeking healing after suicide loss through gentle, trauma-informed support.
