In 2023, CDPH and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) launched Healing Arts Chicago, a new program offering free arts services to support mental health and wellness at the City of Chicago’s Mental Health Centers throughout the year. CDPH Assistant Commissioner of Mental Health Alisha Warren discusses the program with local artists/community health workers Jewel Hale and Shannon Harris, speaks of the successes and challenges each artist has experienced in their workshops, and what their classes do for individuals in the surrounding communities.
