Healing from eating difficulties through storytelling and metaphor - and living a life beyond your wildest dreams - PART 2 with Dr. Anita Johnston

from The Soft Rebellion Podcast · host Flurina Thali

It is with great intention that the second episode of this year is with today's guest Dr. Anita Johnston. As I shared with you in the last episode me and my body, this is my story. I found healing from disordered eating when I allowed a dialogue between my body and me and when I gave her a voice. The power within emotions and feelings became the sweetest song and strongest dance I could ever share. This is my creator force and feminine spirit, wanting to be awakened and expressed. And along my healing journey the work and book from Dr. Anita Johnston was such a fundamental and important part and it means the world to me to share her work with you today!… and by doing this curving the path and direction of this podcast a bit deeper - may this podcast be a source of inspiration for all of us to be awakened to the miraculous body we are and inhabit and may it be a platform for women who are going a similar path like I did to find inspiration and support to heal from disordered eating and awaken to their feminine spirit. Let me introduce my guest, Dr. Anita Johnston:Anita Johnston, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and author of Eating in the Light of the Moon, which has been published in seven languages. She is the co-creator of the Light of the Moon Café, an online resource with interactive and self-study courses for women around the world. A pioneer in the field of eating psychology for over thirty-five years, she is currently the Founder and Executive Clinical Director of Ai Pono Hawaii Eating Disorder Programs, which has a residential eating disorder treatment program on Maui. Dr. Johnston provides virtual individual consultations and conducts workshops internationally.  She is best known for integrating metaphor and storytelling into her training as a clinical psychologist to explain the complex issues that underlie struggles with eating and body image. In the conversation with Anita we talked about …  What led Anita to become an expert and pioneer in the field of eating disorder recovery  The feminine archetype and why eating disorder recovery invites us to find a balance between the feminine and masculine Why the moments we experience eating disorder behaviour are windows of opportunity to heal and meet yourself!  How to «crack the hunger code» and why the foods we struggle with the most are the keys to deepest understanding of yourself The healing power of giving a voice to hidden feelings and emotions How to take first or further steps on your recovery in order to live a life beyond your wildest dreams and shine your gift into the world! I hope you enjoyed this episode and that you gained a lot of new insights and inspirations and feel encouraged and motivated from anew to explore how you eat and why you are doing what you are doing with food. Please leave a comment, a review and share it with your friends and family - it is the dialogue with you, dear listeners which hugely supports my work and keeps this podcast going, so thank you thank you thank you for all your support. More information about Anita`s work: Dr. Anita Johnston:https://dranitajohnston.com/FB/IG@dranitajohnston  Light of the Moon Cafe:https://lightofthemooncafe.com/FB/IG: @lightofthemooncafe  Ai Pono Hawaiihttps://aipono.comFB/IG: @aiponohawaiiCredits: Intro/outro music – ‘Hymn for Jim’ by Aspyrian: Robin Porter – saxophone, Jack Gillen – guitar, Matt Parkinson – drums, composed by Robin Porter, listen to the full track here.  Graphic: Annina Thali, for more information click here Mix engineer: Jack Gillen, for more information click here This is a public episode.
