Amy Sheheim and Lisa Floyd called into the show to talk about the non-profit organization The Healing Hearts Project. The Healing Hearts Project (THHP) is a non-profit that serves patients and families affected by Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), the most common type of birth defect affecting 1 in every 100 babies born. The mission of THHP is to be a relatable source for both patients and caregivers coping with CHD by providing care packs, essentials during hospital stays and a support group to connect with other families facing the same challenges. THHP currently supports 272 heart families and has more than 30 dedicated volunteers that log thousands of hours per year as they support families through Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital and UF Pediatric Cardiology in Jacksonville, Florida. To learn more, visit www.thehealingheartsproject.org.The Healing Heart Project is also having their 2nd Annual Healing Hearts Walk Jax on Feb. 22 at Nocatee to help raise awareness and funds for local families affected by congenital heart defects. Lisa Floyd’s shared that her son Emmett was born with a life threatening heart defect and luckily received his open heart surgery and is a healthy little two year old boy today.
