Whether you like them fried, sauteed, grilled or chopped, chicken livers can be enjoyed in a variety of ways and its benefits are phenomenal. Chicken livers contain iron which helps the body use oxygen, make red blood cells that prevent anemia, and maintain a healthy immune system. Iron deficiency can cause fatigue and a weakened immune system. Chicken livers also contain vitamin A which helps maintain good eyesight and a healthy immune system which helps in making white blood cells that fight off infections. They also contain Vitamin B12 which supports red blood cells and prevent anemia. Folate which promotes fertility and helps protect a developing baby. Riboflavin, also known as Vitamin B2 which helps repair damaged skin and reduce skin problems, Selenium which supports the thyroid gland. Niacin which helps prevent pellagra (Pellagra is a disease caused by a niacin deficiency). Protein which promotes healthy hair, skin, and nails. In addition, it helps build muscles. Phosphorus which helps keep teeth and bones healthy. Vitamin K2 which elps keep calcium from building up in the arteries and instead transfer it to the bones and teeth. Vitamin C which is a rarity in meats, is also found in chicken livers. Vitamin C helps with building your immune system, helps the body grow, develop, and repair tissues in all parts of the body, repair and maintain bones and teeth, maintain healthy skin and protect it from sun damage, helps the body absorb iron, lower blood lead levels and may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides.
