As the Summer Olympics from Paris approaches closing, you still have a chance to not only take in the Olympic spirit, but to experience the magnificent food from France. Beef bourguignon is one of the many dishes that celebrates the diverse cuisine of France. Beef bourguignon is a French beef stew braised in red wine, often red Burgundy, and beef stock, that is flavored with ingredients such as carrots, onions, garlic, and a garnished bouquet of herbs that contain thyme, bay leaf, and parsley, and garnished with pearl onions, and mushrooms. It is normally served with boiled potatoes but can also be served with mashed potatoes and pasta. Beef bourguignon has many health benefits such as iron, zinc, and carnosine which is contained in its main ingredient in the dish which is beef. The bone broth in the dish contains collagen, amino acids, and minerals. In addition, the dish contains niacin, Vitamins B6 and B12, choline, phosphorus, copper, selenium, and potassium. So, as the Olympics wind down, and you want to continue your French eating experience then satisfy your taste buds with a hearty dish of beef bourguignon.
