Following Jesus today is fundamentally about hearing and responding to God’s voice. Unfortunately, churches often fail to disciple people in ways that equip them to discern God’s voice, resulting in an unhealthy level of dependency on leaders and institutions, or the conflation of discernment with personal preference. So what does it mean to be able to identify God’s voice? How do we become spiritually sensitive to God’s leading amidst the white noise of our lives, our own agendas, or the various things competing for our attention and devotion? What does it mean to discern God’s leading both personally and communally? Pastor Nathan starts of our new series "Ears to Hear" with the narrative of Eli and Samuel from the Old Testament.
