Heart wrenching stories at Gender Summit as women victims of violence speak out

SAfm — Gender Base Violence activists have called the government in particular the presidency, to consider reviewing some laws in order to protect victims of gender based violence. In a first in South Africa, activists were given a platform to relate to delegates at the Gender Summit, their harrowing stories of abuse ranging from incidents of gang rape, assault by partners and ill treatment by police as well as hospitals and clinics. They have told government to do more to the help victims of abuse.
