“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” Revelation 21:2Have you ever known people who like to know how a story ends before they read the entire book? For some people who are impatient or who have little time for reading; before reading the first chapter, they read the last chapter. If the ending catches their interest, they figure the book will be a good read and so go back to the beginning.I can’t say that I’m one to do that; but ironically, it is something we do when we read Scripture. We know how our story ends. Revelation makes it clear that we will see a new heaven and a new earth. That is our hope! That is our destiny! And, hopefully, it makes us want to go back to the beginning to read the whole story. But another hope is that it gives us hope (together with all of creation), knowing that we are all crying out for a redemption that is coming. We pray for the day when there will be no more pain, and when everything has been made new.As we will discover this week, we are awaiting heaven when we pass on from this earth. But more than that, we are awaiting something even better! Because as we will see, heaven is not the end of the story...What we are longing for and looking forward to is a new heaven and the new earth. What began in the garden will end in a city! God will make everything new “far as the curse is found.”Grace & Peace,Pastor Aaron
