Heaven and Eternity

What happens when this life is over? Is Heaven real? What will it be like? And why should eternity change how we live today? In this hope-filled Bible study, we look beyond the temporary struggles of earth and fix our eyes on the eternal promise Jesus has prepared for us.Here’s what we unpack:1. HEAVEN IS A REAL PROMISE John 14:1-2 Jesus didn’t say Heaven might be real. He said, “I go to prepare a place for you.” Heaven is not just a beautiful idea — it’s a prepared place where we will be with Jesus forever. This promise is foundational to our faith and gives us strength to endure every trial.Discussion: What excites you most about Heaven? How does knowing Jesus is preparing a place for you affect your choices today? And how can we help others look forward to it with the same hope?2. THE GLORY AND BEAUTY OF HEAVEN Revelation 21:18-21 Picture this: Walls of jasper, streets of pure gold, gates of single pearls. Heaven is more beautiful than anything our minds can imagine — because the God of all beauty built it.3. ETERNITY IS FOREVER 2 Corinthians 4:18 — Our earthly life is temporary, but eternity has no end. Everything we own, achieve, and hold onto here will pass away. Challenge: Are we living only for what is temporary, or preparing for what is eternal?4. ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST John 3:16 Eternal life is not earned. It is a GIFT given to those who believe in Jesus Christ. It’s not just endless existence — it’s endless peace, joy, and fellowship with God.Discussion: What does it mean to you personally that eternal life is freely given? How should that promise change how you live today? And what steps can you take to ensure others experience this hope?5. THE ABSENCE OF SUFFERING IN HEAVEN Revelation 21:4 — “God shall wipe away all tears... neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.” No more sickness. No more funerals. No more broken hearts. Heaven is where every hurt is healed.6. LIVING WITH ETERNITY IN MIND Colossians 3:1-2 — “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” If Heaven is real and forever, we can’t live like earth is all there is. This study calls us to set our minds, our money, and our mission on eternity.7. THEY SAW HEAVEN AND CAME BACK TO TELL US Enoch: Genesis 5:22-24, Hebrews 11:5 — Walked with God and was not, for God took him. Elijah: 2 Kings 2:11 — Taken up by a chariot of fire. John: Revelation 4:1-8 — Caught up and saw the throne. Jesus: Acts 1:9, Luke 24:50-51 — Ascended in glory. Paul: 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 — Caught up to the third heaven. Heaven is real. People have seen it. And Jesus is the way there.Final Takeaway: Your life on earth is a dot. Eternity is the line that never ends. Live today in light of forever. Because Heaven is not just our future hope — it’s our present motivation.#HeavenAndEternity #1John225 #EternalLife #HopeOfHeaven #FaithRevivalEdmonton
