Heaven Where Your Home Is (Col. 3:18-4:1)

In Colossians 3:18-4:1 Paul gives us a clear example of what it looks like to “heavenize” an earthly institution as he adds, “Husbands love your wives and do not treat them harshly,” to their already socially engrained norm, “wives submit to your husbands.” He teaches us to look around at the stuff of earth and bringing the compassion, humility, meekness, forgiveness, and patience of heaven to bear on them.
