Heavy Metal Ambitions

My Midas touch is turning your bones to golden rust Poured my heart and soul Till it overflowed And drowned you out We walk immersed in an ocean of chemicals we curse At the wretched moon Pulling on our legs Till we get home We never wanted to let you down We never wanted to rule your world We only wanted to make you feel you’re golden You little thief you knelt down to pray in your defeat And you made me king And you ruled our world Like nowhere else Summer song, I’m singing the words that made you strong It’s an ego thing That will curve your wing And make you soar We never wanted to let you down We never wanted to rule your world We only wanted to make you feel you’re golden We never wanted to let you down We never wanted to rule your world We only wanted to make you feel you’re gold But those moments were so rare Disappointment in your tears As the mist descended Dreams that wandered through the air Never fell back down to Earth Through the mist descending I won’t go back there until you say We never wanted to let you down We never wanted to rule your world We only wanted to make you feel you’re golden We never wanted to let you down We never wanted to rule your world We only wanted to make you feel you’re gold
