Hebrews 3:1–6 Consider Him

from Deep in the Word - Verse by Verse Bible Study · host Kent A. Jacob

The antidote to drifting is not trying harder — it's seeing Christ more clearly. In this session, Pastor Kent opens Hebrews 3 with a study that is as pastoral as it is profound. Before issuing a single command, the writer reminds his readers of who they already are — holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling — and only then does he say: consider Him. Drawing on the pattern of Scripture from Romans to Ephesians, this study shows that every command in the Christian life flows from the revelation of who Christ is and who we are in Him. Christ is both the Apostle sent from God to us and the High Priest representing us before God — the perfect mediator in one glorious person. And while Moses was genuinely faithful, he was a servant pointing forward. Christ is the Son reigning over His own house. That house is us — and we belong to Him.
