Hegseth: Vigilance Remains America's Shield | US News

War Secretary Pete Hegseth marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a sobering reminder: America still faces active threats from Islamist terrorism, both abroad and at home. He underscored that vigilance is the price of freedom, noting many Americans were unaware of the danger before that day — and the fight against evil continues. Targeting Iran, he declared it the world’s top state sponsor of terror, detailing U.S. successes in dismantling its air defenses, weakening its navy, and applying relentless economic pressure to block nuclear ambitions. Hegseth honored the military’s sacrifice — calling them the “top one percent” who stand guard so others can live free — and urged the nation to honor 9/11 victims by staying committed to liberty and security for generations to come.
