Heidi Harris: Good afternoon, always a privilege sitting in. Charlie's taking a couple of well-deserved days off. It is the holiday season for a lot of people. 800-905-0989. Let me take a look at the text line here. Texter asks to what Christina said, we're talking about football players versus soccer players. "Football players are two to—two to three times the size of soccer players too, that's true." Yeah, and like I said, if you're playing football—we had a caller say that it's much, you know, worse when they're playing soccer and running for 90 minutes and this and that versus the NFL. Well, I would say if you're a running back [laughs] and, you know, five guys collapse on you who weigh 250 pounds, you know, I—can you imagine? And I love the game. I love to watch football. But you see these people get hit, you see these people get tr—trampled by a whole group of people. I wouldn't get out of bed for a week if one—that happened to me! And yes, I'm not a big person, I'm not a football player, but that's not the point. I mean, you think about the effect that has on your body long term, getting pounded and pounded and pounded every single week. Texter: "Soccer red card issue. If the refs—rexs—if the refs did not issue a red card, it cannot subsequently be issued via a video replay. That's the rule the committee is correctly abiding by." And that's what happened. I watched the game the other night. He did go over and take a look at it. So, uh, texter: "Belgium has been run over by everybody since Prussia. Hope we do run over them. 250 years of telling the rest of the world to kiss our butt. We don't care about soccer." [laughs] Texter: "If our athletes here in America gave a care about soccer, we'd be number one. Every time this show happened, this is America, we want baseball, football, and basketball." Yeah, that's true. Texter with the caller about football. "She's forgetting about 35 pounds of gear and getting hit by a 350-pound man." Yeah, I mentioned that. That's funny. Yeah. Well, I mean, people have always played soccer, I understand that. But for Americans, we have so many other cool sports, it just hasn't been as cool, you know? Nothing—a lot of countries, this is all they have. So that's why—one reason that it's such a big deal for them. We have so many other things to choose from because we are wonderful America. Here's an interesting little, uh, bit of news here that I have talked about over the years many times: the idea of illegal immigration and causing home prices and rent to increase. Hello! How many times have I said anybody with a brain knows this—that when you have illegal people in the country, where are they living? Where are they living? You can't get an apartment, your kids can't move out of the house because they can't get an apartment because illegals are living there. Not in all of them, but when there's more demand, whether these people are paying full rent or not, there's more demand. There's just more demand. And especially in the case when you have people living in government-issued Section 8 apartments. I mean, look, if you own an apartment building, let's say, and you have, you know, 50 apartments, and the government comes to you and says, "Hey, we need to house these illegals here, and we'll give you a rent check every month for 50 apartments," versus you as a landlord chasing around 50 people for rent every month, what are you going to do? You know what's going to happen. Anyway, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, they have a working paper and they said that the surge in illegal immigration during the Biden administration boosted employment while causing 30% of home price increases and 20% of rent increases. Yep. Yep. That's right. Researchers found little evidence that home building expanded enough to meet the added demand, essentially creating a demand shock in markets where supply was already constrained.
