Helicopter Parenting - Interview with Lisa Krause

from Resilient Kids Podcast · host Resilient Kids Podcast

On this week's interview we hear from the wonderful Lisa Krause. Lisa is a parent and grandparent with years of experience and expertise parenting. She has worked as a parenting educator and a teacher of parenting science. On this episode Madeleine and Lisa have a discussion on the topic of helicopter parenting. Lisa uses the terms “Rescuing your children” rather then helping and guiding them. In order for our children to reach adulthood with all the skills they require they need to be taught and nurtured but also left alone to figure things out. Lisa brings up important questions such as; how early should they start doing chores? When is it okay to let your child take risks that could hurt them? Does your child need assistance or just a listening ear? These questions and more are the backbone of the important conversation that has taken place.  Lisa's website: www.parentcoachconnection.com Madeleine's website: https://resilientkids.org.nz/ Get in touch: [email protected]
