Hellams Rising as Falcons Safety | Atlanta Falcons News

DeMarcco Hellams is on the verge of a breakout season, earning high praise from Falcons secondary coach Justin Hood as he locks down his spot on the 53-man roster. A seventh-round pick in 2023, Hellams has evolved from a raw hitter nicknamed “Hit Man” into a disciplined, impactful safety—starting four games and leading the team’s special teams with 16 tackles. With only three safeties making the cut this year, Hellams is now the third-stringer ready to step in for starters Jessie Bates or Xavier Watts, even getting first-team reps when Bates was sidelined. His college pedigree, including leading Alabama’s defense in tackles, hints at a breakout year ahead—if he stays healthy, Hellams could be playing his best football yet.
