Hellebuyck Asks for Trade | Calgary News

Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets’ three-time Vezina Trophy winner and Olympic gold medalist, has gone public with a trade request after privately asking for a move months ago. He emphasized his desire to handle things quietly but felt it was time to be transparent as training camp nears, crediting the team and fans for their support. Hellebuyck, drafted by the Jets in 2012 and named MVP and top goalie in the same season — while leading the league in wins — says he’s dedicated his career to proving them right. GM Kevin Cheveldayoff acknowledged Hellebuyck’s greatness and pledged thoughtful consideration of his future, without offering specifics. The Jets face a major loss, as Hellebuyck’s five Vezina finalist appearances highlight his elite consistency — and fans await to see where he lands next season.
