In the dead of night, as people sleep, that is when the spirits creep. As the bell tolls three, dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural hour. And now...
Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour. I am your host Raven. I am Chad. This is Mound.
And I'm Whiskey. And I am wound tighter than a cheap watch still. I had my finals this morning, but my brain hasn't been assimilated the fact that I'm free for four months and I'm just still tense and anxious. And it needs to stop.
Anyway. Okay. You should go see hypnotherapy, Laura. I can't even relax again.
So I went to school. It was pouring rain, pouring. And luckily there was an umbrella in the car because I took my umbrella out of my bag thinking I won't need it again this year. Faults.
I had flip flops. I was like walking through a river. There was so much water because the entire University of Utah is on a hill. And I parked at the stadium.
So everything is uphill from the stadium, literally everything is all the water. Anyway. So I came home and sat in a hot bathtub. I even used bubbles.
I sat in a hot bubble bath. And I'm still tense. I mean, my parents used to have to walk uphill both ways and six feet of snow. So one way uphill doesn't sound too bad.
One way uphill in a river. In sandals? Oh, and I was walking to class and at one point one of my sandals just flipped off. So I got to walk barefoot the water for just a second while I went and hunted down my sandals.
So that is my sad morning. You had an opportunity to ground yourself. Okay. You know what?
Maybe that's why I did a little better on the final than I was anticipating. There you go. All right. Enough of my finals.
Hey, we got some business. Cool. And we are happy. Advanced Paranormal Services is happy to announce a public investigation.
And it is at the Old Family Tree Restaurant Building in Santa Cruz, Utah. We've been trying to get in there for several years now. They've been closed for a couple of years. And I think we're the first group to be able to investigate that since they closed.
Yep. And I'm super excited. We kind of walked around it. It's a little bit under some, I wouldn't say construction, but under some remodeling.
So it looks a little, if you've been there, it looks a little different than it has, but we trotted down to the basement and shouted with Lucy and she's a little disgruntled that things are changing up, but she's still there. And she's funny. She, I could kind of feel her hackles about two miles out. And she's both kind of pissed off that things are changed, but she's actually, she missed us.
She missed us. And not just us. I think she missed just all the investigators. She missed her celebrity.
Yeah. She's been ignored for what? Four years. I think the last time we went was 2020.
2020 is the last time we went. There may have been some people that went, you know, a little bit after that. But 2020 wasn't a lot of activity going on because of COVID and they shut down shortly thereafter. Yeah.
Cause if you look at our website, we say, you know, our past events, we have on their 2020. It was a great time. Blah, blah, blah. We'll see you there again in 2021 and we didn't go back.
Yep. And it wasn't because we didn't want to. So we're really excited that the owner has is allowing us to come and investigate. It's going to be a great time.
It's going to be May 18th Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. And it's going to be, it's going to be fabulous. So this is one of those things.
We've had a tough time this winter and spring getting investigations, but this is a big one for us to land and we're really excited. We've got tickets already up on our advanced paranormal.com page. Go to current events and you can go there and click a link directly. They're also available on Eventbrite.
If you use that same thing, we just put the tickets up Sunday night and we have already sold more than half of them. We're planning on having 30 guests. So if you're interested in something you'll want to jump on as quickly as you can. Right.
We haven't really even, I haven't made a Facebook post for this yet. We haven't even really plugged this too hard and heavy yet and already half of them are gone. So if you're one of those people that thinks, oh, we're going to wait. I wouldn't.
I would. If you want to do it, jump on it. Yep. We're really excited.
You have some business, you think? I don't know if it's business, but it's interesting. I was contacted by a fellow named Larry Lawson. He's in Florida.
He has a podcast called Paranormal Stakeout. And he called and asked if he could have me on his podcast. So I did that last night. A little different setup than we do.
We record our podcast ourselves and we edited ourselves and when we say to the things, we can edit it out. So, you know, because I'm on the podcast, Chad has to edit out like five hours a crap. No one laughed. That was funny.
Come on, guys. Thank you. I just laughed. I didn't know what you're talking about because we've never messed up.
Everything's always been perfect. These are one take every single time. I'm in the dark here. And his is recorded by somebody in Canada.
And it was really cool the way they did it. It was also had video on it as well. And so I had to look good. I couldn't just sit here in my scunches with my hair on top of my head.
I had to like do my hair and put makeup on and stuff. But it was really fun. He's a really neat guy. And when we find out when and where we can listen to that, I will let you know.
And we are also going to have him on our podcast this summer sometime. Yes. So we're looking forward to that. And he wrote a book.
And I don't remember what the book was called, even though it was said on the podcast last night about 100 times. But it's about some of the hauntings in the Florida area. And he's actually going to be doing a book signing pretty soon. And anyway, when we have him on, we'll have him tell us about his book.
That's great. But there's nothing more stressful than knowing. I can't say that. You just had a trip over your voice and blah blah blah.
Are you seriously raising your hand? Yeah, I have a piece of business. Okay. So I want to move on.
We're also, if you're in the Utah County area, going to be the Mystic Frog on May 4th. What is the Mystic Frog? It is in Orm, Utah, off to Neve Road. It's like, it's a pretty new place.
They sell like gems and jewels and witchy things. A lot of stuff for like Wiccan and Pagan type rituals. But they're a little market to celebrate their opening. A lot of things.
It's a lot of incense too, if you like smells. But they're letting us in their market because we lost our farmers market that we did last summer. Unfortunately, that venue is not open anymore. But yeah, a little market.
And what days were that again? Just May 4th. It's our worst day. I know.
So for the business, it's been brought to you by Castle Photo Art. Go to Castle for all of your photo needs. You have a Castle Photo art story that happened today or yesterday. I have a daughter that's hopefully graduating.
And she went and got her. I hope she's graduating in graduation pictures yesterday. We're excited about that. The photos and the graduation.
We hope. We hope on the graduation. We will be excited. The pictures will be fabulous whether she grants or not.
But the graduation is still up in the air. We got to path math. Oh, wow. That was...
She has to pass math. I have to. I have to math pass too. A D minus.
All she needs is a D minus. That's all she needs. Moving on. All right.
Well, that's it for the business. So we're going to go on to Moon segment next. Sweet. Yes, I got a moon tell for all of you guys.
I will. The story is courtesy of Annie, who was the CNA that I've talked about before. She was going to talk about Paul. And Paul was so sweet.
He was a German man that had dementia. He was mostly new. He didn't speak much because his dementia didn't allow him to remember a lot of his English. When he spoke, he would hold your hand, look into your eyes and speak soft German to you.
How cute, right? I love that. Wait, what soft German sounds like? I don't think that's an option.
This already sounds vague. Wait a second. It might be a little choppy, but it was still sweet. Okay.
We just nodded our heads and smiled pretending to understand he would open his arms and invite you in for a hug. Just the sweetest old man. Sometimes we would invite bands to come to play for the residents or play old songs on the record player for them to listen to. The residents loved it.
Sometimes Paul would ask you to dance. He was a good little dancer. He taught me the two step. He was the cutest smileiest dementia patient and everyone's favorite.
Paul always was a good sleeper during the night shift. We would take him to the bathroom, put on a night diaper, help him get into his jammies and get him a cup of tea, give him his meds, help him brush his dentures and tuck him in. That was always the last you heard from Paul until the morning. Unless, unless it was on a full moon, right?
CNAs would write in our notes about Paul during a full moon. It seemed to be a consistent theme with him for some reason. Paul would get disoriented, not realizing what time it was. He would wake up and think it was breakfast time at two to three in the morning.
It was a little creepy. You would be walking around a quiet and empty nursing home and catch a glimpse of Paul sitting at his place at the table in the dining room, just sitting there in silence and darkness. What is poor Paul thinking? You know, in the dark poor guy.
You would go up to him and point at your watch and say, it's nighttime bedtime and take his hand to take him back to bed. A few times he would get agitated and pull his hand away. A few times no one on shift could get him back to bed. He would refuse.
Pound his fist on the table and yell at you in German. That would be terrifying. Yes, it would be. It was unsettling to see this side of Paul.
If you had never heard him yell and scream, you wouldn't believe he was capable of acting like that. When he would get like this, we had no choice but to make him a cup of tea and toast and let him sit there. Eventually morning came and the day shift would be annoyed at the night shift that Paul's whole day was thrown off because he just wanted to sleep. They had a hard time believing the night shift because after all it was Paul.
We had them check the security camera footage. Man, that needs to take some real convincing. If you need to show security camera footage to convince them that you're not making this up, but that's what happened. So they could see it for themselves.
I don't know if you remember a couple of podcasts ago, but Velma was talking about her kids and how they would get really calm during a full moon, which is opposite of what happens in the psych wards or the hospitals or the care centers. So I'm thinking, is it like ritalin where it calms the wild kids down and then it brings everybody up on speed? I don't know. The thing I feel is interesting about that story is it wasn't just a one-time thing he did it every full moon.
Yeah, regularly, like clockwork. Wow. You think he's scared of silver? Like was he using silver ware during the full moon by chance for his tea and breakfast?
I'm just... Okay, but I do have to tell you this has nothing to do with paranormal, but it has something to do with yelling in German. So several years ago, if you've listened to the podcast, you know, while back, you know that I play in a bagpipe band, and we'd gone to a seminar and one of the drummers from a different band had a metronome. And most metronomists just go tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick or some version of just a tick noise.
This is a special mage. This metronome he had. I don't know where he got it. It was a scariest metronome ever.
It was a... I swear she was an East German woman. Okay. Oh, one, one, two, one, two, one, two.
Oh, you were scared to screw up. You're like, if I screw up, this lady's gonna jump out of the box and strangle me. It was a scariest metronome ever. I actually tried to find one, can't find one, because it would be fantastic.
Scary your students just like you are. Right. That was the best metronome ever. I like that.
Well, if you guys have moon stories, I would love to learn about them and read them. So send them to apps.wisps.contact at gmail.com. All right. Thanks, Moon.
You're welcome. Hypnothairy puts you back in control of your life, body, relationships, and surroundings, just what Raven needs. I guess I do. You realize what an empowered part you play in how your life unfolds.
Contact Laura Dong, CCHT at newdonghypnothairyp.com. Maybe I should give her a call. Maybe she can unwind whatever's wound up in my brain. So I don't know why it's kind of come back into popularity or maybe I have just been noticing it because it's been on our podcasting agenda.
I make up an agenda for the quarter so we kind of seem organized to know what we're talking about. But the health iron club, I have seen so many hoodies and t-shirts and stuff of the health iron club. I don't know if there's like a big resurgence. Oh, no.
I tried to get her to watch this. So what is it? Stranger Things. Oh, you know what?
No, I watched the first episode and I couldn't get past the first episode. It gets better. Yes, the first episode all my friends are trying to get me to watch it and I started watching it and I'm like 10 minutes in and I'm like bored to tears and they're like just push through. And I'm so glad I did and I am caught up on everything and I would rewatch all of it again tonight if I had time.
All right. Well, I have oodles of time now so maybe I'll try it again. So it's from Stranger Things. It's one of their Dungeons and Dragons group for the people on Stranger Things.
So that's where I was at. So season four? Is it season four? Yeah.
So if I were to get a t-shirt that said to Health Iron Club, people would think Stranger Things not that I was into debauchery and stuff. I mean, what they think about you, I don't know. I can't control their thoughts Raven, okay? All right.
Well, you guys went to Stranger Things. So, yeah, and whiskey, this hand-raising thing. Just talk. It's an Easter egg for all the us to know.
He's so polite. I feel like I'm a fourth-grade teacher. Okay. So Health Iron Club, what I read on the internet when I was doing some research on this was not Stranger Things, but we went back to the 1700s in Ireland in the Dublin area.
So if we go away from Stranger Things whiskey, tell us what the Health Iron Club is. So it can actually refer to a few things. One of which is just a name that they used generally for a club, like Raven mentioned, that kind of focused on debauchery and vibing and substances for fun, kind of like gentlemen's club type things. But one in particular, which still isn't like an official club, but it's kind of the one that people are talking about in Dublin when they reference the Health Iron Club.
I was built on Mount Pilear in the Dublin mountains by William Connolly, one of Ireland's richest men at the time. I was unable to find out how much money he had back then, but he was one of the richest, whatever that means. The kind of wild thing about it in general is when he was building on the mountain, he actually built it over a burial site from what I could find. And not only did he like move things in a burial site, but this guy thought like, you know what, be great.
This big standing stone that was a marker for the burial site, I'm just going to use it as part of my fireplace. And you just know that they didn't have poltergeist back then because you know you don't dig up. I mean, if you've seen poltergeist, you know that you don't dig up burial grounds and they just needed the internet back then. You don't just take stones from a burial ground and build your house out of it.
But apparently you did. You know, we're trying once. Nowadays, see the difference now is like they have names etched on the stone back then. It's just kind of like standing stone.
It's a little harder when you're like, oh, this is little Timmy's grave that was eight years old and died here. I didn't put him in my fireplace. Based on these guys, I think they still would have done it. They probably would have.
Yeah, I mean, that's probably why their slate roof blew off. Right. I think that's fine. It's after construction.
I literally laughed out loud when I read that. The roof blew off. They did. They raised a little too hard.
Well, some people think that it was the devil that blew it off and they say that fire shot out the chimney after blew off. But you know, there's a lot of hearsay. This was the 1700s. That is what they say.
And honestly, how good was our imagination back then? That's all I'm saying. I'm just saying they have TV. So yeah, I mean, it's basically the members of this club kind of adapted the name from the infamous Hellfire clubs, which again, we're just kind of known for their crazy activities.
They held black masses there, which depending on which iteration you heard has some pretty wild implications. And the thing with places like this is while we know this building was definitely built and it seems to definitely have been built over a grave site. As the stories surrounding this and Hellfire clubs in general grow, it's hard to separate like what is true, what is myth, what is legend. There's no real log of the people that were in there.
It's kind of all just like who's referenced the most. There's some paintings of people that were in there that seem to allow us to identify a couple people. But yeah, kind of a wild ride coming into existence there. No, absolutely.
All right, so I'm going to talk about a couple people, but in particular, I'm going to talk about Richard Parsons and he was born in 1702 and he died in 1741. He established the first Irish Hell Club. So there was some throughout Britain, I guess, and I think England was the first one, but he developed the first Irish one. He was a Freemason and first Earl of Ross and Grandmaster of Irish Grand Lodge of Freemasons.
He loved his drinking and gambling and he teamed up with James Corzell to establish the Hellfire Club. Richard was known for his practical jokes that he particularly liked to inflict upon the religious, which makes a lot of sense if he's into Satanism or black masses. Yeah, he was like a big womanizer too. Oh yeah, I'm going to get to that.
That doesn't sound like him at all. Not at all. He enjoyed startling his neighbor, who was a clergyman, Dr. Reverend Madden, by opening the door to him, Stark naked.
Just every time, naked. And yeah, that would be hard for anyone, I think. I think if I was the pastor, you know, the first time you're like, okay, I caught you know, in a relaxing moment, I guess. But I don't know that I would give myself a second opportunity.
I know, throw a blanket on, you know, like maybe he should have been on the offensive. I just had a blanket up. So when he did open the door or something, he just only sounds face, right? Well, and even the first time, oh, you know, I caught him on a day.
After the second time, I'd be like, no, no, this isn't going to happen again. Yeah. That's just me. He was a peach, you know.
By 39, his health deteriorated from his life of excess. He received a letter from Dr. Reverend Madden containing all of Richard's misdemeanors in his life, probably including his nakedness, including whoring, gaming, drinking, writing, turning day and tonight, blasphemy, his maker, and all manner of wickedness. The letter encouraged him to repent and confess.
So being Richard, the Richard that he was, you can think of nicknames that might suit him better. I don't know, you know, get creative. He decided when he opened this and read it, he probably just laughed and he had the letter put into a fresh envelope and immediately delivered to Robert Fridge's journal. He was like straight edge type of dude back then, I guess.
And by the time he went to Madden and realized that wasn't from Reverend Madden, Richard Parson had died. So also he couldn't get him back. Yeah, here's a prankster, I guess, like with a little bit of a mean spirit there. Wow.
Yeah, so one of the other people that I kind of read about, one of the, I don't know if it was a member, I don't know if it was one of the early founders, his name was Simon Littrell. He was said to have sold his soul to the devil if his debts were paid. He was named the worst man in England in a poem. They wrote a poem about him in his first man in England.
And interestingly enough, he outlived everybody of all the people that we know of that were in the Irish Hellfire Club, he lived the longest. I don't know if that had something to do with selling his soul to the devil. Yeah, I think he like distracted the devil and then ran off and nobody ever saw him again, right? Yeah, yep, yep.
Do you distract the devil? You know, I don't know. Look, a puppy. What does the devil want to see that's so distracting over your soul?
It comes for your soul and you're like, $20? Well, you know, there was that whole fiddle duel, so maybe he was fiddling. Yeah, Georgia. Yeah, Georgia, Dublin, Ireland is a very.
So, I mean, that would be a big distraction, I think. There you go. Well, that actually is a great story there among all the other stories that come in. One of my mentioned a black mass earlier, which allegedly they held a ritual with a cat placed on an altar and set it on fire.
Supposedly, depending on the stories we read in that particular instance, a priest actually showed up, whispered an exorcism into the cat's ear to release the demon out of it before the black mass was completed. And that just kind of, it just goes into just them trying to make a devilish sacrament or anything that they could to mock religion itself in general. I mean, they even called a black mass just as a mock-reel Catholic mass, right? So, it's just kind of like a way to get everybody engaged over killing a cat.
I don't know if that relates to anybody, but it related to them, which is just wild. Like thinking about them doing other stories of cannibalism as well in there. Oh, yeah. If you can name it, they did it.
Yeah, so they had all these rituals and they had were alcohol. It was almost like it was required to overindulge an alcohol. Sexual rituals. One of those sites that I was kind of getting some information on didn't even want to name stuff.
They just said debauched behavior. But because of the secrecy that was in this club, a lot of the rumors locally were that they weren't to say, tentacle rituals, devil worship. It said that the head of the Hellfire Club was called King of Hell and he dressed like a winged horned devil. And they would leave an empty place at the table for the devil to come and join.
I saw that Simon Littrell was known as the King of Hell, so he must have been one of the really big leagues there too. You talked about prior. Well, and then there are some stories that say that there were animal and human sacrifices. They tended to indulgent orgies, which I believe might fall under the botched behavior.
And usually their gatherings would end in violence and sexual assault. And some people suspect that maybe they didn't so much do human sacrifices, that might be an exaggeration of the men taking women's virginity. So maybe not so much an assault, but an assault on the virginity. That makes sense.
I'm not trying to make it sound like less of a bad thing. It's a bit of an assault. There's also a story of murder by a notorious member named Thomas, a.k.a. Buck Waley.
No, no, no, where the buck came from. But here's a member of the health care club son of Richard lapel waley. And was I guess known as this is prior to his revival. So after the health care club, you can the holy fathers, but same lodge same place.
And allegedly they kidnapped murdered an eight. A farmer's daughter. My favorite part of the source also says that waley eventually repented and died in 800 and then health care club then again disbanded with his death. So, you know, killed so kidnapped killing eight somebody, but he did repent.
So interesting thing. Did you read about when he repented? He's, you know, thinking about all of his things and he thought, you know, for whatever reason I need to repent. And he said he felt that the devil was creeping down the hall for him.
And so he wouldn't even stay in Ireland. He left and went to the Isle of Sky in Scotland. She's agreed. I'm out of here.
I heard a lot of mysterious fires happen there. Some people say that they would just light fire to the building to add to the devilish appearance, which is a mood. Honestly, like maybe they did. I don't know.
But there is another recount where a member spilled a drink on one of the waley's coats and then waley retaliated by pouring Randy all over the man and setting on fire. When that fire then spread the building and killed many members. So that reminds me of another story I read. There was a stranger that was just kind of in the area and you know, just kind of knocked on the door.
Hey, can I stay the night here as they were want to do back in the day? And they were playing cards and he dropped something. And so he bent down to, you know, I don't know if it was a card or whatever, but he bent down to pick it up. And as he looked under the table, the person that was sitting across the table from him didn't have human feet.
He had like cloven feet. Oh, and hooves. Go feet. Go feet and it doesn't say what happened between him seeing the goat feet and when he set up, but apparently the stranger disappeared in the ball of fire and was never seen again.
I read one account of that where they said that they asked him if he was the devil at that point and laughing. He turned into a ball of fire. Yes. And then I heard the guy that saw his hooved feet died, but you know, I don't know.
So there was and this didn't necessarily happen at the Hellfire Club. There was a family whose last name was Lotus and they owned a house that was just nearby and they said that they were visited by the devil twice. Just because they lived in proximity. That's unfortunate.
So that would be creepy. And again, you know, these are stories are coming from the said of the few hundreds and there's a lot of things on the internet that say you got to take some of these with a grain of salt. But based on the stuff that was going on, you can't help but think that some of these have some grain of truth to them. I think that's that's also just like as wisps when we show people's house calls.
You can tell us some pretty outlandish things and we're not immediately going to think like you're crazy. Right. We're going to there's some grain of truth in what you're telling us and we're going to try to figure it out. But I do like talking about this stuff because it just reminds me of being like a kid on the playground.
We're like, and then everybody laid on fire in the whole house. Hey, how much of that was happening back then that's just trickled down. They're like, there's a playground story that somebody told me. We don't know anymore.
It's been hundreds of years. This next little tidbit I found probably could have happened. I believe in this. I do believe that there was debauchery and drunkenness and all sorts of stuff going on.
I don't doubt that at all. Well, there were other health fire club associations surrounding and different places. This wasn't unique. It was unique here in Ireland at this point, but it wasn't a unique happening in the world at the time.
So there was a local boy who, you know, I don't know if he heard the stories, heard the rumors. I don't know if he heard sounds. I don't know if it was just what's that building up on top of the hill all about? Because you know how kids are going to go explore.
They're going to climb hills and jump off little cliffs and play in the creek. And so he went exploring and apparently he witnessed some of the rituals that were going on and was so, you know, it doesn't say how old he was, but you get the impression that he was a child. So I'm going to put 10 lemonish years on, I guess. But he was so traumatized by what he saw that he actually never spoke again.
Thank you. Wow. Guess he didn't see much to talk about. Nope.
So, I know I could see considering what they were involved in and what they were doing. They had a young child witness some of these things. I'm sure that would just be overwhelming, especially at that time. They don't stumble upon, you know, porn on the internet accidentally or stuff like that.
So, you know, they don't find their dads playboy into the bed and have an idea. So I'm sure he was very traumatized. Probably like a dirty poem at that point, right? Right.
Well, it's too much ankle. So what is it doing now? So now it's a burn down. I mean it's stone, so it's not burned down, but it's heavily destroyed by fire.
It's a ruin, but it's still haunted, as we know ghosts typically don't go anywhere. People say that at night there's still strange noises and smells. If you walk through it, there's evidence of black magic and rituals. How many of those are from the 1700s?
How many of those are more modern that people are snucking to do? We don't know. I've never been there. My guess is that it's a little of both.
As we know, you know, different energies draw different types of spirits. And so if you've got that kind of energy going on there, you're going to bring a lot of negative spirits. And if anybody that was killed, cannibalized, raped, whatever, that's going to bring a very negative type of atmosphere. They're going to be there.
They're going to be upset. It's going to draw in negative entities. So there's definitely still spirits that are present. Visitors that have been there have reported necklaces and bracelets being pulled.
Some have felt the ground shake. They've heard an audible voice say get out. So all kind of the usual suspects when it comes to haunted areas. And this would be a place I would love to go investigate.
It would be super interesting. Well, I want to talk about some things because it's whiskey segment time. So you probably assume that this is related to technology and you'd be right. I've been watching a bit of some ghost hunting shows, different people on the internet.
And one thing that I noticed, I've actually been watching with a friend of mine on Discord just kind of hanging out, watching shows. They are also a ghost hunter out near the East Coast. Probably another team. So that's going to fly him out here so you guys can meet them one day.
But we were watching and it's very clear on a lot of shows, whether it's like YouTube or some of the more popular shows that they spend zero time learning about how their equipment works to be able to debunk things that come up. Everything at that point is an anomaly. Something goes off. It's an anomaly.
So one really good point of that is SLS camera. So there is, you know, it works by just projecting basically like a field of lasers. You can see it if you're using MiteVision or an infrared camera. And it just, it detects a distance and through that it's able to map skeleton structures if people look for edge, shoulders, legs, arms.
And we've seen, we've seen anomalies with that for sure. Things that don't make sense, they're not mapping to any objects. We also see them map to objects sometimes and it's pretty clear when that happens. But these shows will jump on them and just be like immediately.
That's an anomaly. That's an anomaly. You're like, that's the couch and a chair next to it. We can see that.
Another thing with the SLS camera, sometimes you get like a black mass in that. And if you don't have any video footage to go with it, that could literally just be a bright flashlight scrolling through bright enough to block out the lasers in that point so it can't reflect back. It needs a reflective surface. If you had something that could absorb 100% of the light, like an ultra matte black type paint, it could possibly also cause that or something that's really, really far away.
But it's just interesting. It's like, it kind of takes away from when we present anomaly versus what they see on TV because we have to sit down and be like, okay, these are anomalies because they don't seem to be anything else. And so most people that would be looking at our evidence or anything like that, they'd be like, what about this? What about this?
What about this? The same can be said for orbs. I have seen so many orbs on TV that are clearly a hair falling through the frame. Maybe it's because I have dogs and security cameras in the house.
But it's very interesting to me how much equipment is out there, how helpful it can be, but how little investment is made into learning, what triggers it, and how to confirm exact evidence. So that's just something that's been on my mind lately because I wanted to complain about. Yes, learn to use your equipment. And I could definitely improve on the use of some of my stuff.
Some of my stuff, I'm all over it. Others, it's like, yeah, I don't know. So thank you for the reminder. Yeah, no, I'm the same way.
I never said like, we still find out things. We find out what equipment goes off with our walkie talkies. Because they can use. It's always a surprise.
Sometimes it does. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it does and we have to figure it out, right? So I think it's just sometimes we get caught up in the searching for an answer that we forget to like search for answers to why our equipment might go off.
And I've seen some good shows. I've seen some people that go shut off the power in the house when they're getting hits and they want to make sure it's not, you know, Wi-Fi, anything like that. I have seen a lot more of that lately, but I mean, the market is saturated. A lot of people do it and they just want to see sparkling lights and they don't really care how it happens.
So with that, I think a big part of that goes back to where we talked about on our last episode about the types of investigators and types of things. And I think it's important to be kind of that open-minded skeptic and looking at that when you're working with the equipment of just because you see something in equipment doesn't necessarily mean that it's an entity or a ghost or something else. You know, it can be like you say, the dog hair floating around us with the orbs spider webs, lots of things. And it's important that we use those as tools not as the definitive answer for everything.
Absolutely. So, Raven, do you have some investigations coming? I do. It's Feaster Famine recently.
We don't have any that we have done, but we have got so many coming up. We're actually have one, so today, we're recording today, obviously, because I'm here today. Today is a Friday. We have one scheduled tomorrow night.
We have one scheduled Sunday night. And we have our family tree scheduled coming up here in two weeks, two and a half weeks. May 18th, it's about three weeks. May 18th.
And then we just suddenly, we had such a hard time finding venues earlier in the year. And now we've got so many, we're trying to figure out how far back in the year we can push them and have it work. So we don't have anything to talk about today necessarily, but we will. Oh, we will.
I will. I just want to clarify that. There's a lot of we wills around here. There's only one will, aka whiskey.
I just had to out myself for once on the podcast. Hey, let me tell you guys about something. All right, I've talked about the hoodies a couple times. You know, I hope you bought one at this point from the man's paranormal.
Can you see me? Can you see me? Oh, hey, super natural hoodie. See, look, it's working in the studio here.
I'm going to get stranded here across the podcast. So I'm going to start a new thing. All right, listen, we are getting a lot of investigations set up. If you're going to come join us, hey, we've never had any issues with anything following anybody home.
We've got a set of rules. If you're ever feeling nervous or anything like that in your own house, we also sell personal sized cleansing kits. You can toss them in your car. You can get a kind of a bigger one.
There's a couple of different sizes. You can get some sage spray from us, just things to kind of help you feel safe in your home and we sell those. And you know what? I thought you were going someplace completely different with that.
So I have a little challenge. If you show up at one of our investigations wearing one of our supernatural hour things that you get, we're going to give you a little goodie. That's the prize. A little whiskey.
The problem is getting out. Oh, we want people to be wearing that. Oh, sorry. You'll get something exciting that's not me.
Also, be sure to follow us on YouTube and TikTok. And yeah, come on, see us. Come on, see us. Show us your supernatural hour swag or your advanced paranormal swag.
And we'll have fun. You'll blend in. You can absolutely get a high five from every member on the team too. I might put you to work.
Okay. So for our jump drawer, we are all going to have a little say we as a group thanks to Moon and her amazing party skills. Yes, I've checked it. We didn't actually rent out the movie theater for us, but we were the only people that were there and it was kind of cool.
We went and saw the latest Ghostbusters movie. So we're going to talk about and review that movie. What is it called? Ghostbusters Frozen something or other?
Yeah, no. It's the new Ghostbusters movie. That's all the bandwidth I have in my brain right now. Okay.
The bandwidth in Raven's brain is extremely extremely low right now. So the fact that I remembered it was Ghostbusters, we're just going to call that a win. Yes, it's the Ghostbusters Frozen Empire. And also I have no proof that Moon didn't book the whole theater for the record.
I think it might have happened. Okay. But we'll talk more about the movie. I just want to start out with this a little bit.
I liked it. Okay. But I think the coolest part of the movie was as all of us were walking out of the movie theater into the hallway, I thought, look at all of these Ghostbusters walking out of Ghostbusters. I thought if anybody in this theater realized what was happening right now, that would be pretty cool.
It would be like me, you know, like the new Lightning McQueen movie and I'm not saying that there is one just I'm making something that low bandwidth. But let's say that there was a new Lightning McQueen movie and a whole bunch of NASCAR drivers were in there and they all walked out. I would think that was cool. Okay.
Anyway, all right. Sorry. Little did that. The theater.
No. I was bummed out though. Like we could have if we had known I might have snuck in like a K2 meter or something just to see, you know, just to see what's going on in the theater because a lot of people die in theaters. Fun fact, not a fun fact, probably not fun, but a fact.
Well, every theater I've ever been in has been haunted. Every theater that I've investigated, there's been crazy activity. It's cold. It doesn't like electricity movies.
Doesn't matter whether they're new or old. Okay. Back to the movie. I liked it.
You know, it was if you've seen, I kind of call this to myself, Ghostbusters the second generation, right? And I think it's fun. Not bad reviews, but I think it's fun. You know, it kind of stays true to the original.
I did not like the one that had all the women. I don't know. Something about that just didn't sit well with me, but this one and the one before it had been really cute. It's kind of, in my opinion, gone back to the original and they're fun.
It had the little marshmallow in it. Oh, yeah. They are cute. I think they did a really good job where a lot of like movies that are calling back to their roots fail is like when they brought in the original Ghostbusters, it wasn't like, oh, look, they're here.
They just showed up. Oh, they're here to say they all had storylines. They all just existed in that world as they were and they've like moved on from it and everything. So like I really appreciated that they just like they did it as a great fan service, but they did it in a way that wasn't just like, oh, yeah, here you go.
It wasn't just cameo. Yeah. 100%. The story line up, I love that they have the old car, the caddy, and it's all just original.
That was really fun for me. Like cars, so. It did feel like an old Ghostbusters too. It didn't feel like something new.
Like it felt like the old one felt. Yeah. I thought the story was solid. You know, I didn't get great reviews.
I'm not sure what people were expecting, but I thought it was a solid story. I thought I thought it was quite well written. I enjoyed the characters. I enjoyed, you know, the younger children.
Sometimes it seems like all movies today, all the new ones, you know, the kids have to save the world. And it really wasn't that. I mean, the kids were involved in saving the world, but it was a team, a team approach with everybody. Yeah.
And I like that because I think too many times, so many movies now get the point that the kids are, you know, the adults are imbeciles and can't do anything and the kids have to save the world. I think that feel out of this. When I got the feel of there was some teenage angst and there was some wanting to be an adult and a lot of things there. I thought there were some good strong realistic kinds of story issues.
And when I say realistic, I realize we're talking about Ghostbusters. But they didn't go too far out. Right. They told a story in the real world, basically.
Like it's, it's, it's kind of the same way that Batman Superman, their cities are pretty close. And that's what makes those stories a little more exciting is because they exist as an extension of our world and not a whole new world. Right. One thing I liked about it too is it seems like Hollywood is just remaking everything.
You make this remake that remake this remake that this is I mean, yes, it's in the, it's in the Ghostbusters universe. You know, it's the Ghostbusters story, but it was, it was a new story. It was a new extension of their experience, not the same thing over. Yeah, it was a new story.
And it's like, oh my gosh, they just don't do this very often. The one, the one issue I had with the movie, the one thing that just kind of bothered me though, they had the same mayor that guy's been mayor for like 30 years. He wasn't the mayor originally. Wasn't he?
No, he was the, he was the EPA guy. Okay. Cause I was like, how long is it? I'm like, do these guys not know about politics?
You can't hire the same guy from mayor. You can't vote him in for 30 years. No, it wasn't the same. It was the same character that's been a thorn in there, but since the 19.
That makes me feel better. And that was, you know, that was part of the shtick getting him in there and having him have his cameo also. And also back to the thing of the idea of people trying to control you and regulate you to death and everything else. And I thought that was fun.
And yeah, if you were thinking that it was the same mayor, I see where you'd come on that. I didn't really see it was just the EPA guy the first time it's been a while since I watched the first Ghostbusters, but I was like, oh my God, all right, that makes better sense. Anyway, so let's do a round of thumbs up, thumbs down. I give it two thumbs up.
Two thumbs up. Two thumbs up for moon. Two thumbs up for whiskey. All righty.
So if you haven't seen it yet, go see it. It was fun. It's fun. And again, don't go in with the expectations that it's going to be the greatest movie you've ever seen, or even with the idea, oh, this is better than the original Ghostbusters.
It's like most sequels, very few sequels in any of these universes are better than some of the original ones. I mean, you can have a continuation. Some of them might be a little bit better. Some of them might be a little bit under.
Sometimes they fail miserably. But if you're looking at it to go, oh, it's going to blow Ghostbusters, the original out. You're going to be disappointed if that's the way you go into it. Yeah, let's go and have a good time.
Yep. And go, we pop corn. Absolutely. That's the best part of the movie.
Stay spooky, my Haunty friends. Hey, have a good night. See you later. Bye, everybody.
