Hellweaver: A Dark-Web VR Game Where Player Death Is Real

Winning a dark-web VR match earns money; losing can kill the player outside the game. In Rob Fields’s “Hellweaver,” a ruthless beta tester fights through a ruined virtual Strickfield toward the right to challenge its demon goddess. Her boyfriend Ajaxis has supplied hardware beyond anything sold in stores, and the rewards keep growing with the risk. This explicit techno-horror story combines lethal gaming, cryptocurrency and supernatural ambition. Maxing out her character opens the final challenge—but the rules protecting the boundary between the screen and her home may not be what she thinks. Sponsored by HenFlix.com.
