October 18, 2016: (Headphones! :) Serendipity strikes again. These two tracks came up one after the other in my major .mp3 shuffle program, and the similarities were immediately apparent. Not just the key, but also the overall tone, the shambling rhythm and especially the non-verbal groans that punctuate each artist's piece. Getting the drums to match up perfectly is always the #1 issue when there are unique and interesting drum parts featured prominently in both songs, so there are still some rough spots in the end result here. But I think the dueling "Moan" Osborne and Tom "Wails" section toward the end is delicious, as well as how the separate instrumental parts fit the other piece like a glove in so many places. Anyway, hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did putting it together, and please check out each artist's tracks separately here or elsewhere: "Help Me" (by Ralph Bass & Sonny Boy Williamson) from Joan Osborne's "Relish" (1995): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0173BM4VG/ref=sr_1_1_rd?_encoding=UTF8&child=B0173BMKMY&qid=1476800301&sr=1-1%3C/a%3E "After You Die" (by Tom Waits & Kathleen Brennan) bonus track from "Bad As Me" (Deluxe) (2011): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005SMUW8U/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp
