Helping Kids Rise, One Book at a Time // September 17, 2025

Dr. La Tonya Mouzon, Executive Director of ARISE2Read. ARISE2Read, a nonprofit organization focused on foundational literacy and Bible literacy through school-day programs and after-school Bible clubs. In Shelby County, 67% of children living in poverty are not reading at grade level. Dr. Mouzon shares how her team of over 800 volunteers is committed to helping third grade students reach this critical milestone of reading proficiency for a brighter academic future and life trajectory aimed toward Christ.
