Six days later, Shaniya's body was found near the Lee-Harnett County line. Authorities determined she had been sexually assaulted and killed by asphyxiation the same day she disappeared.McNeill was convicted in 2013 of first-degree murder, kidnapping, human trafficking and related offenses and sentenced to death, a sentence upheld in 2018. Antoinette entered Alford pleas including second-degree murder and received roughly 17½ to 21¾ years.
