Herman Johansen

from GoodEnough · host Sam & Mark

In this episode, Mark and Sam talk to Herman Johansen about his new book, Las Cruces: Blood Relative. When he is not writing he is an avid hiker, Herman has trekked up several of Colorado's Fourteeners and has done significant hikes in several states. Traveling is another passion, and he has visited parts of Asia, South and Central America, Mexico, and many countries in Europe.  He is a sucker for anything that flies and has been airborne in everything from a vintage open-cockpit canvas plane to a hot air balloon, a glider over the Pacific, and under a parachute. In addition to acting, he has extensive directing, writing, and casting credits in theatre and film. Herman's training, intensity, and dry humor have led to highly praised performances of richly flawed and complex characters. In 2019, he was given the 'best actor' award at the Chesapeake (Baltimore) Film Festival for his work in The Land. Herman is originally from Billings, Missouri, and now lives in Albuquerque, NM, having spent several years in Kansas City and Los Angeles. And he's always ready to talk about his grandchildren...

Caravan Conversations James Tousignant When “why” is the question we are asking at 3am and life is at a crossroads it would be nice if someone would come to us with a sign from Spirit. It would be so nice to have that kind of certainty about destiny and not just live in the tides of fate. It would be comforting to know what’s expected of us, why we are here and what that calls us to do.It is a mystery, and we are called to be present with it. We are called to bring what we are best able to bring to our life. We are called to remember. As an expedition of the heart, Caravan Conversations, based on the book Caravan of Remembering by Daniel Goodenough, offers a way to ‘remember’ a deeper place inside that can then bloom in your life. There is a value in even the smallest gesture when our hearts remember. It does make a difference. Welcome to the Caravan of Remembering. Big Little Lessons Kristine Annunziata and Jenny Goodenough Meet two passionate kindergarten teachers with over 50 years of combined experience in public and private education, spanning classrooms from New York to Los Angeles. Just as children develop in kindergarten, we all continue to experience new beginnings and changes throughout life—school, careers, relationships, hobbies, etc. The early lessons like kindness, sharing, and resilience are often the ones we return to when life gets complicated. This podcast is for individuals who like to reflect on their own educational journey and apply lessons to their own lives. People seeking to be better humans. Anyone who enjoys the process of reflecting on the important life lessons they have learned and using them to grow in their professional and personal lives. Sacred Music Adventures David Goodenough & Eleanor Harris From St. John's Episcopal Church at the heart of Scotland's capital city, David Goodenough and Eleanor Harris discuss what a lifelong love of sacred music means for them, and its place in the worship of the church. But this is also about so much more; life as the Director of Music and a chorister at a busy centre church with a vibrant choral tradition. We talk music and music lists; music for Choral Matins, Choral Evensong and the Eucharist; organs and organists. Join us as our Sacred Music Adventures unfold. Ramblings & Random Rants Clyde Goodenough "We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect." - Anais NinJust the ramblings (and sometimes rants) of an everyday, average Joe. Sometimes this podcast may dip into readings from the works of published writers reviews and even my take on everyday or topical issues.
